Don't you just love it when the young ones start doing their first crows and eggs? :love

2nd pic is me holding up Boo's egg.
3rd pic is me holding up an egg from one of the older hens.

My husband found this one. It's not bigger than some of the poop in the yard... It IS fun to hear the first surprised squawk, and to see the eggs grow over time.

Is that egg from an Easter egger?
We're actually not sure which chicken it came from. We've got a large variety. We thought it was from one of

no our young ones, but they're only about 15 weeks old. I don't know all the breeds yet, but we didn't expect any if them to be laying yet. I'm sure someone here has a better idea than we do. Our youngest 4: Char (as in charcoal) and Ashes, Patches and Rusty (rust color on black and grey):

There's my BO rooster, Roo and my EE cross, Boo. Well, I think she is a EE cross. I actually saw a EE the other day and Boo looks nothing like a EE.

Our new ones are probably all EE, but I really couldn't say for sure. Our first 8 came from a school breeding program, but the last 7 were given to us, and I'm not sure where they came from before that. Our Rusty and Patches look somewhat like your Boo with the Rusty colored patches. From what I can tell, the only thing EE's tend to have in common is the colored eggs. The tiny egg is actually green, not blue.

Some call those itty bitty first eggs, pullet eggs. I call 'em chicken farts.;) What's really cool is when you break one open and it's a tiny double yolker.
