Getting acclimated to country

I wish I had cat(s). Maybe we wouldn't be overrun by pack rats, rats, mice and rat snakes. My little Chihuahua wakes me up licking me at night when she needs to go out. She gets excited over the rodents but they stay out of her way.

Talk about SURPRISES and GOOD LUCK!
Didn't even know I had a broody hen outside of the coop

Plus I'm even going to be getting 17 baby chicks hopefully over this weekend.

Wow! What a great surprise. Is that a New Hampshire. I have 5 little girls that look like her.

I was just able to slowly and carefully extend the wing from the body.
THERE'S AN ISSUE I DIDN'T NOTICE BEFORE!! The baby does have an open wound and there's disgusting work things crawling in the wound. HELP!!!! I'm down on my knees (even though I have bad knees) begging for assistance and guidance.

Maggots in a wound aren't ALL bad.. they do clean up necrotic tissue. However, you don't want to leave them in there. Get some tweezers and pluck them out. Get some hydrogen peroxide on that wound. If you have any antibiotic type ointment put it on the wound after you clean it out with the peroxide. That should take care of the immediate problem. The chick will hopefully heal if there are no internal injuries.
