Grow My Own Hull Less Oats! GRAIN pg6!!

I like whole grains added to soups. Everyone I've fed it to that way has liked it. Just got to soak them well and cook them long enough. I've used oats many times in soup. Could also grind them up and mix them with wheat flour for bread.

You got me thinking about a grain flaker now. http://thewholetruth.org/Res_Oat.asp I only looked at 2 sites but so far this one is the best price. I will start searching for a second hand one, it would come in handy and give me more options for the soft white wheat in storage as well as oats.

The oats have been up for several days now. They are about 2 inches tall. I go look at them at least twice a day! :lau I can't help it, anytime I plant something, I look at it several times daily, expecting to see it sprouting overnight. :gig I get so excited when the green shoots show up.

I get all excited when I see green things sprouting as well. :D

in the spring I walk out to the garden like 8 times a day! Willing those plants to sprout and hoping that nothing ate them on me!
Us Sufficient self folks are a special group!! :weee :lau :ya

Do you also find yourself counting the plants that have come up and seeing if any more have sprouted since you last checked? :hide

OH!! Guilty!!! :ya
But my weird habit(compulsion?) has taught me many things about my organic gardening.. like the life cycle of tomato horn worms. I can now spot the eggs on the leaves and have found them when they are 1/4 inch long by looking for tiny chew holes and turning the leaf over. Of course I never find them all but I do find many before they really decimate the plants.
But the chickens really enjoy the ones I miss.
I'm very interested in hulless oats tho. hubs loves steel cut oats and I've often thought of trying to grow a small patch for him..
:pop will be watching and reading!!!!
