Hen, I think that is key for me, too. If I have things easily accessible, I'm more likely to use them. I don't like moving 1 or 2 things to get to another.

I need to do some of that as well! I think I am going to start some "gotta go" boxes. Just fill 'em up an haul 'em off. We need to reduce a lot around here.

I threw out two and half kitchen sized garbage bags of trash. Embarrassing but felt good. That didn't include compost-ick!
I joined BYH and mentioned wanting to add goats to the ol' homestead. Free found me within minutes but didn't know it was me (I felt like a new name!). If I can a.) be patient and b.) get things set up, I may be a goatherd in 2010~
Of course I then went to Craigslist and found lots of goats for sale around here, both Nigerian Dwarfs and Oberhaslis, my two favorite breeds. Most of NDs are registered and expensive, not necessarily what I'm looking for. Our vet has Oberhaslis and I just think they're pretty. I've had their milk and cheese and love it.
I'm looking into DS joining 4-H. He did Cub Scouts last year which was a bit of a disaster just because of the particular pack we were in. Very small, nice Pack Master, but a few loose screws. The assistant Pack Master has pretty much quit. She's looking to me to step in but I worked my buns off last year trying to make the Tiger Den work and it just about killed me. We're down to no more than 7 boys. She's not even living in town any more and she started talking about maybe merging with another pack in town that meets at the Catholic School. I've emailed their contact person about the possibility of DS joining but haven't heard anything yet. Can't find a phone # so I may have to call the District for help. This woman made it clear she hasn't given a thought to actually getting started back up this year. Honestly, if I could just get the 4-H info. I'll have him do that instead.
Once again, thinking "outloud".......

Just hours old, born at the fair:

Too cute!! I want some soooo bad!

This little one had a for sale sign. It was tough to walk away. Very friendly, kept coming to the front of the cage and looking for attention!

Later we went to my coworker's house for a cookout and bonfire. Pup-a-doo Indy came along to meet her new rescue Beagle, Homer. They got along great.

Did I understand that the Boy Scout troop had a FEMALE pack master?

It seems most of them in our area are ran by women as well. What ever happened to MEN teaching boys to be men?

Yup, the assistant was a man but the leader was female. I find here that once they get up to BOY Scouts the men are in charge. Maybe they don't think they're good with the littler ones?

Yes, the bunny had bluish eyes. I was only able to resist because we already have a bunny, we don't have a cage for a new bunny, I'm always lamenting that we don't spend enough time with our bunny Ringo, and I'm pushing for goats and that would have weaken my argument for them..... It was NOT easy walking away!

Labor Day means labor at home! I'm putting together my menu and shopping list for the week, cleaning the computer room/office and starting some baking and cooking to get ahead. There's a new load of laundry going in every time one finishes.
DH is thinning trees. There are two that shade my veggie garden that aren't too big for him to take down but he needs to drop them toward the fence so he'll have to temporarily take it down. The birds are all out since we're home so at some point I'll have to help him round them up. I think we're pretty much guaranteed he's going to end up with poison ivy out of this project.
DS has a stuffy nose and is playing quietly with Legos in his room. If I don't end up taking a break too often I might actually get something done today!

Well, duh, we have cancelled the service call for our Internet. DH was cleaning under the desk and discovered that the cable he thought was connected actually wasn't. Problem solved. 13 days of no cable for nothing. I feel so stupid.
