Kala's Journal~Newest Project :)

Right now I give the KopSel once a week. Right before kidding I gave them 1/2 tsp. every day. After they kidded I remember giving it to them more than once a week, but my memory stops there :P I thought they looked pretty rough for awhile after kidding, but we also had some hay that wasn't the greatest and once I got new hay they improved.
I was also giving them kelp along with their minerals. Then I found a mineral mix that has kelp in it and I really like the effects, but it's pricey because I have to have it shipped. (it's from Countryside naturals) But I can't find anything other than Purina minerals here and there's alot of salt and crap in Purina. So along with the KopSel, I think they are looking great.

I use FIR's herbal wormer too. So far so good. I did give them Ivomec after they kidded in Feb. because the farm they came from had troubles with barberpole last year and that was what the breeder recommended.

Darn rain! Can't get outside to get anything done. We got the garden fencing done yesterday and got started on the goat fencing but now it won't stop raining! :hit

Oh well. Gotta remember all those places that would kill for rain right now I guess.

In other good news Emily's coat is starting to look better! We've given her the Kop/Sel for about 4 days now and have been adding in BOSS. And she's resonding really well already! :weee

Well, I'm gonna go grumble in the corner now about the stupid rain...I mean sure I could clean up the house and do some dishes but...being out in the barn or the garden is soooooo much more fun!

Dear Raccoon:

To the raccoons that busted into my hen house last night and stole 2 chickens, I hope you enjoy the traps we set for you. ;)
Have a nice night.

Sincerely,
The Girl Who Has Been Busting Her Rump To Fatten These Chickens Up For Me...Not You

I'm tempted to make tiny little copies of this and hang it on trees, about raccoon height, in the woods behind the chicken coop.

At least you can trap coons. I have a hawk and owl issue and they are both protected species.

Best of luck with the traps.

Can they read? Better include graphic pictures as well lol

:yuckyuck

something good and bloody. coon parts scattered and angry woman swinging an ax. :lau

Sorry to hear about your woes. I lost a duck a few weeks ago, and I set out traps. Never did catch anyhting, and haven't lost another critter since. Now, I hve 18 (so far) chicken hatched, and 30 meaties coming tomorrow. Hopefully they will be safe. I suspecvted it weas as coon, but now Im not so sure. I think it might have bee the neighbours dog.
