Northed - Not so far north

We had parrots in our orange tree on occasion, when we lived in the San Francisco Bay Area - not wild though; feral. The climate is mild enough that escaped pet parrots survive and breed. It was quite a shock the first time I saw them.

They're pretty little things, aren't they?

I wish we had orange trees, they're one of my favourite fruits. We do have a very pruned-back grapefruit tree, but the fruit hasn't been ripening the past couple of years. I can't figure out what's wrong. :idunno

And here I was thinking you were in Canada! I was starting to get a bit envious when you mentioned about going to Sydney for a vacation. But then when you said it was one of your favorite places, I started to wonder. Then when you said you had parrots in the trees, I KNEW you couldn't be in Canada, so I really wondered! (Of course, I should have realized you weren't in Canada when you mentioned about your garden. :hide)

Lol... I thought she was another Canadian too!

:welcome Northed

Hubby and I dream of visiting Australia someday...

 I have heard a lot about Canada. I dream of visiting there someday, odd how these things work, isn't it?
I do intend to find more time and money to visit other places in Australia. People usually think it's strange that I live here and have never seen the Great Barrier Reef, or Ayers' Rock.

Today hasn't been a bad day. A lot of work, but the spirit thrives on being busy.
I am going out tonight to wind down a little. Hopefully I can just relax and not worry about anything, something that hasn't happened in a while.

The chickens are laying soft shelled eggs again. We gave up on the oyster shell, it doesn't work.

Have you tried feeding them egg shells? I've heard that that will work.

And, don't feel bad about not visiting those places. I don't live that far from Philadelphia, PA. I don't know how familiar you are w/American history, but there are all kinds of historical things there that have to do w/the birth of America. And, other than going there on school trips when I was little, or w/my kids when they were little, I haven't been there.

Yep. I've fed them all manner of things at various people's suggestions, but eventually gave up anyhow. The man at the feed store reckons, "it must be a dodgy chicken". I think I'm starting to agree. :P

You're in luck, Philadelphia is one of the only places in the USA I know the vague positioning of.
I'm not really one for history, I gave up trying to memorise dates and places back in school, so I prefer somewhere like Sydney to the memorials of Canberra.

I've always enjoyed history, at least learning about it. But, I'm not much of one for visiting most historic sites-too many people.

Well, last night I went to a show, it being cheap Tuesday and there being a festival in my area. I am no fan of crowds, and spent most of my waiting time reading a book by the boundary, but the show itself was fantastic, although with a few crude lines. Definitely good to get out of this rut for a bit.

Locked out of the house this afternoon, had to wait for someone to come round with the spare keys. My memory resembles a sieve nowadays. The chickens were behaving delightfully like seagulls today, it's quite funny to see them all dive for a bit of bread, wings slapping the ground like brakes.
