lol mum would be more than happy to come live here for the winter, even if i am "too far from civilization" for her liking...i dont think dod would mind either if he didnt have the whole need to work to pay bills issue lol.
talked to them this morning, their power is out but the new Jenny worked great last night, unforutnatly they wernt expecting this and dad didnt fill her up and today with the entire town down places have gas, but no telecomunications for credit/debit...so hes going to have to venture about to try to find a working ATM or a station taking debit to get the jenny filled. CL&P are telling them like the hurricane power out this could take over a week to fix (so many downed trees)
they got about 1 1/2 ft of HEAVY wet snow...it aparently took out their flowering pear (a 25yr old tree thats NEVER had any problems) snapped it right in half at the trunk, theres no saving it so dad will chiansaw it down to the ground come nice weather.
it also took out 1 of the 25+ yr old male trees on the property completly, and the other 2 arnt looking too good right now. the hedge row is so weighted down that its laying flat on the ground (its 8ft tall!) but that should spring back once everythings melted...
otherwise they made it through ok, the driveway is cleared thanks to alot of time and the snowblower on my dads part...
but aparently the entire state is a mess, lots of trees down and lots more comming down from the weight of the stuff.
i definatly got out at the right time...
people kept telling me i needed to wait until after halloween...but im realy glad now i got out when i did, the likleyhood of early novmeber snows are low... but the likleyhood of a late october snow fall was lower so im glad i didnt take that chance.
todays a pretty lazy day...have pork with garlic salt pepper and apples in the crockpot (i love apples and pork yum), slowly putting my homeswarming/birthday/christmas/want it just because lists together on amazon...
doing planning...scouring craigslist for supplies ect, and making "wants" lists for the homestead ready for spring

having a very snuggle with the dogs and be lazy kind of day and im ok with that.
ive decided as soon as my money hits ill be purchasing the paint and painting supplies for the livingroom...i want to get my tank set up but cant do it untill the room is painted (cause once its set up its not moving) so i figure that should be the first big job for november in the house. i mean curtains are up, and things are in for the most part...still need a bench or some kind of bookcase for behind the front door though, but its still "builder basic" so walls and trim need to get done. also going to paint the fishtank stand to match the trim (white) while i can (cause i can move the tank still lol) and need to make a shelf for under there too as that stand is also the entertainment center.
i think paint and some shleves would realy finnish this room up.
still need a small couch or loveseat for in here too, though thats less of a rush.
and some artwork...this room needs something...im thinking it needs to be floral.
then december will hopefully bring paint to my bedroom, add some artwork and some shelves and ill happily call that room done.
january will then hopefully bring the back bedroom to completion...a little more is needed in there, paint, a set of drawrs for guests, and a counter top for my "craft center" ive already seen the peice of artwork i want for that room and its deacently priced too.
id also like some under bed boxes in there for under the futon for storage and need a set of bedding for the futon too...
kitchen is planned for february, paint, mabe something realy cool as a backsplash, shelving in and out of the cabinates and something to finnish off the windows (dont want full curtains but would like a valance).
the kitchen will also need new flooring because the carpet just isnt going to work for me in the long run (going to do a good quality vinyl if the under floor is in good condition). the kitchen however may JUMP up the list in term sof timing depending on when dad comes out because thats the room that needs the most help in terms of heavy duty cant do on my own stuff...the back door needs fixing, to do the floor i need to move the fridge and stove, and if possible id LOVE to replace the window in there. that rooms going to be the bigest job i think.
march will then hopefully bring the bathroom about...i was origionally goign to replace the tub with a soaking tub but given i only have a 30gal hot water tank...i dont think its pratical...so i want to replace the "tile board" (that plywood stuff) around the bath, either with something nicer in the same stuff (poentially faux bead board) or, id LOVE to do mosaic tile...
paint needs doing in there, and i need to replace the sink with something alittle classier, larger and with a vanity under it lol. storage is a big issue in the bathroom as i only have the mirror and a cabinate above the toilet thats falling apart...i do have the cabinate to replace the fally apart one...but its open shelving mostly and i need somewhere to staff the more private stuff so a vanity is a must.
sring also starts all the outside projects so thats when things will get realy busy.
i will admit though, as i sit here snuggling with the dogs...its starting to feel like home
and i think after this lovely end of october snowfall, mum and dad might be joinging the ranks of southerners ome late spring/early summer.
