My nighttime project.
20190422_221020.jpg
I have our chicken run fully inclosed with 1/2 inch chicken wire around the bottom then netting the rest of the way up and plastic netting over the top to keep the hawks and eagles out. Some of the netting did not survive the winter so I have started to make my own to replace the plastic. It's slow going but its actually relaxing and helps pass the time especially on those nights that I cant seem to sleep.

Some pics of the pygmy goats house. It still needs siding and tin on the roof. Which will be done once the weather cooperates freezing rain yesterday and today with the same expected for tomorrow.

Just got a new to me second hand manure prong. Will make mucking out the stalls and pens much easier. I regularly stop in to visit friends who have a farm nearby and while we were cleaning out some stalls I mentioned how I wish I had one to use at home as I have been using a pitchfork and the prong is much easier. When I stopped in today they said they had something for me. When we went into the barn they had a prong with a broken handle and asked if I'd mind putting a new handle in it for them which I did. When I was done they said now you have your own prong and gave it to me. It's great to have good friends like that.

Well the Christmas turkeys are all processed some are already picked up now to deliver the rest and clean out the barn. Then finish the fencing and the goats can move in.
Thinking about building another barn just for turkeys. Didn't realize the demand we didn't advertise that we had them but in the last few days I have had over 100 messages on facebook looking for turkeys. Amazing how word of mouth gets around.

The sun will be up I about an hour then the work begins... 9-10 foot high drifts...

I can't "like that post". But, I can empathize, even if I've never seen it that bad. Take it slow. This is a "heart attack" situation. Hospitals are often flooded with cardiac patients after snow storms. Platelets are at their "stickiest" in the morning, setting many folks up for a heart attack or stroke when they engage in the heavy work of snow removal. Poor body mechanics and the tendency to hold the breath when doing a lift elicits a ValSalva response, resulting in very high blood pressure. How do you eat an elephant? "one bite at a time". Take it slow, and if needed hire a bull dozer or front end loader to come in and clean you out.

Everything was white when we got up this morning but it was all gone by lunchtime. All the waterers were frozen so we put the cinderblocks back in place. I have light fixtures in the blocks with a light bulb in them and a piece of cement board other the top to keep any water from dripping in on the bulb the waterer sits on top does a great job keeping the water from freezing. We have 1 in each coop. $2 light fixture with salvaged cinderblocks and cement board much cheaper than $70 heated waterer.

Sunny but chilly here. Have the 3 granddaughters for the weekend. The 3 year old has sinus drainage and coughing so outside is not a great idea. Short trips to outside is ok, just long enough to do chores. Grandparents say grandkids make them tired, we see it as a weekend of rest. Looney Tunes cartoons, Disney and Nickelodeon until our brains are mush. LOL LOL
