You still should limit them, imho. Over the long haul, they can hurt you. If you are super active and blessed with a lucky metabolism, you can get away with it. But if your situation changes, now you have to make drastic changes and the clock is tickingNothing inherently wrong with a carbohydrate unless you are health and/or weight challenged. DH is a severe diabetic and has to control his carb intake to keep his blood sugar under control.
