...DenimDeb, i also threw away more than i kept when i cleaned yesterday but still have pictures, recipes and books to find something to do with. now I'm sort of looking sideways at the basket of clothes in the corner. i think they're next. I built this little house last year and really, really downsized which is hard for me. i'm discovering that my "stuff" is kind of my security blanket and it is very hard for me to let go of. I'm tryin', i really am but it's slow going and now that i am just living on my social security and am always broke its really hard...

Although "Material World" is about 16 years old now, it is still an amazing piece of work-- and very thought-provoking. The author identified middle class families in 50 different countries and convinced them to bring all their worldly goods out of their homes for a family portrait. The comparison between what a family of 6 in India needs for comfort compared to the american family of 4 is....humbling.

@goatgurl Sorry to hear about the buck damage. Personally I'd let him suffer. Teach him to stay out of the garden in future!

@Britesea That's amazing...

Stoopid goat! LOL - they always, always, always eat just the very thing you want them to leave alone. Right now I've opened the garden gate and am begging for my goats and horses to clean it up!

Hope he doesn't get a belly ache from his little adventure!

well, did youall miss me? i missed chatting with you. hope all has been well. did you ever have one of those weeks?? a thunderstorm blew thru and knocked a limb down which in turn messed up the satellite which messed up the computer and of course it takes an act of congress to get someone out to fix it. after that the deck belt broke on the ridding lawnmower and that had to be taken to town to be fixed. and let me tell you they are proud of not only the belt but their ability to fix it. i use my lawnmower as a teeny tiny tractor to pull and haul things around the farm and i couldn't even do that while it was at the dr's . goats are all well, even stinky ole' choco who was no worse for wear after the pepper incident. and DenimDeb the fact that he is already in full rut is what saved his hide. i don't think i could stand the smell of cooking him much less eat him right now. the animals are all saying we are in for a hard winter, early rut, chickens have molted early, hair sheep putting on heavy coat. glad I've already ordered propane, got a pre-buy price of $1.89 gal which still is high but not as much as the $4.89 a gallon they wanted last winter when i ran out. got a bigger tank this year so other than a leak or something happening i won't be running out.

i guess this should go under the heading of what i did to save or make money today. well i tried to upload pictures but it wouldn't work so i'll just tell youall instead. a young man by the name of thicket came to live here today. he is about an 8 month old angus/jersey steer that i traded two of my western saddles for. and we are both happy with the deal, the folks who got the saddles have good safe trail saddles to ride and i andhave a short puggie steer to raise for beef to butcher next fall. yea!!!!
granddaughter & spouse came by today for a visit. she's is 21 and he's 22. i can honestly say that i was never that young and dumb, i couldn't have been or i wouldn't have lived thru it. and now they who don't know how to take care of themselves are going to be presenting me with a great grandbaby in march sometime. Heaven help us all. they didn't come to visit per say they wanted to borrow $40.00 till next Friday. i want to be glad, i really do but I'm finding it hard knowing they have no sense of responsibility, i wanted to say "hey guys this isn't a puppy, its a lifetime commitment. @DenimDeb this is where the pillow over the face while screaming comes into play.
