Well, I for one, wouldnot be willing to voluntarily give up TP, but if I had to do without--I suppose you could use a re-usable wash cloth, and keep a bucket of water with borax or something beside the turlet.

Back when my parents were kids, we all heard about "no outhouse was complete without the sears and Roebuck catalogue." the papers would have to be severely crumpled up in order to be soft. When out in the bush we have been known to seek out soft leaves with no prickers on them for an emergency wipe. I have heard of different cultures using a squirt bottle and then a towel.
