Hi yall! Its been a long time! I've missed you folks very much. I haven't been able to make it here to the library for reasons of no gas, no money, and no work. My little netbook is completely dead now.
I'm still off-grid and still living off the organic food forest that ive created. The solar panels and batteries have been very reliable, even on cloudy days, and maintainence free. I have been busy planting my greens for winter, working compost into the soil, and transplanting asparagus starts that i grew from my own hybrid seed. I have also been busy collecting seed for next spring, and dead trees and limbs from around the neighborhood, that i cut up into firewood. I also had to replace part of my stove pipe on the wood burning stove. It's been ten years now that ive been heating my ancient cottage with wood, and the poor old thing was rusted out. There was no sign of any creasote build-up. That's because i only burn well seasoned wood and run a couple of really hot fires at the start of winter. My pantry is stocked full, and im working on digging out that root cellar/storm shelter under my house. I also have regular work two days a week, for a lady who has more house than she can take care of. So over all, everything is going fairly well.
On the health front, my leg/hip/siadic nerve problem is better for now. It comes and goes. Mentally, i have been quite cheeful and still look forward to eating, drinking, and being merry every evening. I have been more active and sleeping better since i lost all that weight. (I went from a 38 inch waist to a 32.) Time for a new wardrobe!
Well thats about all i got to report for now. Sorry ive been gone so long. I'll try to pop in more often, now that i have a regular income. Chat with yall later! :)

:frow I'm glad that you're feeling better and that you have some work again. A little money in the pocket helps make things easier. :)

That root cellar is a great idea. Sounds like you'll be pretty well set for winter now. A full pantry is a great feeling.

I planted asparagus last spring and want to get some more in too. They are so yummy once they get going! Can you save seed from your asparagus plants? How?

Yo Bubba,
How ya'll is? Long time no see. Good to know you are doing better. Sorry about that back pain but losing the weight has done you some serious good. :duc

Digging a root cellar? Well that certainly is a lot of work. I have to admit, I'm not sure I have that much motivation. Fortunately, If I have to have some form of shelter, I can cover the access to my cellar which is a set of stairs down to the basement and that would make a dandy root cellar with access from within. I just might do that.

We did miss you out there in Coon country but figured you'd come back when things sorted themselves out.
Really glad to hear from you again. Send me a note icu4dzs at gmail dot com so I can fill you in on a few things. :ep

We've got these deadbeats in Texas. Most of them are doctors and their wives. (at least 2 pairs that I've met.) Ok, back to reading the story. I got lucky, joined after there was a good read already posted.

The CrazyLady Story: Or, How to Rip-Off multiple Contractors

One of the first big jobs that i had in my new life as a home remodeler, was a ceiling replacement. It was large, older home in a nice part of town, and the middle-aged couple who owned it were going to take down the acoustic ceiling tiles. They hired me to hang and float a drywall ceiling. I looked at the garage. They were two tin panels away from being finished. "So what's the problem."

"He said he ordered a garage with vertical lines on the roof, but this is the only type of garage we sell. I've put in hundreds of these garages and nobody's ever asked for a refund."
"He asked for a refund?"
"Yeah. Don't know what's going to happen till i talk to my boss, but the guy just came out here and told us to leave."
The rest of the day, i puzzled over the husband's bizarre behavior.
The next day, the wife came in early in the morning. We were very nearly finished with enire house. "Stop!" She yelled."This is terrible! You guys don't know what your doing. This is not what i wanted. Just stop. You are spinning your wheels! Just stop where you are!" She left.
"That's it!" i said. "Screw that crazy old goat!" Help me load up all our gear. Were getting out of here!" My helper had a concerned look on his face. "Dont worry." i said. "You'll still get payed. I paid him out of my own pocket. We never saw the CrazyLady again.
So that's how to get work done for free, or how to rip off multiple contractors!
