getting the rest of the tomatoes i picked the other day canned. skinned, cored and chunked another 16-18 quarts which i'll get put into jars and sealed after i rest for a bit.

beautiful weather, i have plenty of things to do outside when i can get out there. :)

Sounds like you're having a really good tomato harvest - totally jealous... ;)

Big Beef (a beefsteak variety it may even be a hybrid) tomatoes, in the right conditions i can get 40-60lbs per plant per season. it's about 3lbs per quart when canned.

i'm not sure what this season is going to end up like since so far there has been a lot of damage from raccoons and the weather hasn't been great so that first picking might be the majority of what we get. my current estimate is 60-90 quarts total (from 9 plants).

last year i told Mom i was downsizing so we've gone from 12 plants to 9 (which is much less than 16 or in some years past i was growing over 30 tomato plants). i am overloaded with what we having going as it is so having less to process this time of the year will help.
