I mentioned that I stripped a friend's garden. Well, I thought it was just going to be me, but her mother was there helping. Ok, no problem.

When we finished, she took all the tomatoes. I reminded her that I wanted some, and she said she had put some in the car. Bald-faced lie. She knew it and I knew it. I let it go.

Then I went over a few days later, and all those beautiful tomatoes were turning to sludge, no one turning or inspecting them.

Going to waste. That hurts more than not getting any in the first place.
Happy ending! I got them! I got a call from my friend this afternoon asking me to come get them, since they were smelling up her house and her mother wasn't doing anything with them.

We got all the rotten stuff sorted out and I ended up with two boxes fully ripe that I'll process in the next few days, two boxes to ripen for later, and a box of peppers as a bonus!

i'm so glad that worked out in the end! :)
I'm grateful that she called me. She could have just thrown out the lot and I would never have known.

I've been holding on to my last bottle of tomatoes like a treasure.

I got everything sorted and washed yesterday, the boxes should be dry this morning so I can get them back to her.

Karma at work! Shame some were lost but, at least these weren't!! I had no garden this yr. Thankful for those canned from 2024. This year garden a must. It'll be a heavy canning year, too. Thankfully I'm good with empty jars & stockpile of lids!! I'll just need extra hours in some days😋

I'm hoping some of my trees produce next year. This year I got two peaches and a few cherries. The rest of the peaches and the apples blew off the trees.

The garden should be in full production next year! Primarily sweet corn, popcorn, dry beans, green beans, tomatoes, peppers, onions, herbs. Still testing and grexing a lot of things, so each year I'll add to the list.
