What did you do in your garden today?

I spent ALL day Friday pruning back the herbs, crawling on the ground all around the border of the garden pulling clover and weeds,

If you have extra seeds, just stick them in the ground and walk away. If they survive without tilling, without watering, they're adapted to your environmemt and their seeds will be even better.
My issue is the grass. No one can imagine how fast this stuff seeds, spreads, and grows. Last till was September and I have dense grass at waist height now. I have to mow before I can till.

The crimson clover that didnt come up last year did come up this year and it actually managed to out compete the grass in that spot. I'll till again this fall and lay down a heavy seeding of crimson clover.

I want to plant everything in the fall and let it come up when it's ready. I winter planted tomatoes (no germination), melons (great germination but all died) and watermelon (5 survived the rabbits and velociraptors). I have found 3 tomato volunteers, 2 squash volunteers, 1 melon and 1 corn.

I'll keep seeds from those and replant in the fall.

I planted my entire garden. There was still space left so I went to Kroger (Fred Meyer) instead of Lowes, to get some more veggies. I got kale, which I like and so do the chickens, cauliflower, broccolini, and Walla Walla onions. I've never planted onions before.

I knew enough to tease them apart from their little 6 pack cells. I will plant them this morning, most in one spot near the cauliflower and some else where here and there. At about noon, we have a front coming up from the south, with lots of wind and rain. The rain peters out tomorrow. I'd like the foundation plants to get some good moisture for sure.

In one of the old beds that came with the house, I've lost 2 store bought acorn squashes and then 2 replacement winter squashes. So I broke down, put out some slug bait and some sow bugs bait. If that doesn't help, then I'll add some "soy sauce in oil" cups for earwigs. I'll need to see if that works in that one bed, and then go buy some replacements.

Got the peppers in pots. Had some peat pots, so I started some cucamelons inside. Peony and replacement butterfly bush planted. Really wet, but wanted them in the ground.
