Count your blessings. Those are assassin bugs. They eat bad bugs eggs and they eat aphids. They are beneficial and an asset to your garden.

Assassin bugs (like Bay said) DO NOT kill them they are your friend.

Just starting to grab hold and head but will they survive the freeze warning the weather guessers are predicting overnight?

I took the day off and went trout fishing with my second oldest son this morning/afternoon. It was a picture perfect day at the lake. Not to hot, not to cold, light breeze and sunny. My son caught 5 trout, I hooked into 3 but they either got off the hook or snapped my line. I need to put new line on my poles I guess.

Picture at the lake today, crystal clear blue water and hardwoods just starting to turn - very pretty, refreshing & relaxing - i needed it!

I had them in my garden in Livingston. When we moved, I didn't know if there were any here or not, so I caught some and moved them too. Turns out, they are native here too.

I didnt know that!!! I have been killing them i though they were bad and they look kinda creepy lol i will have to do research on them. Thank you!

Honestly they look like the LEAF FOOTED NYMPHS. If i see another one i will take a better look/photo of it to be sure before killing them.

Hard to tell the difference assassin bug vs leaf footed bug. I didn't even know there was such a thing as a leaf footed bug honestly.

@CrealCritter looks like an amazing day out! Even if you returned empty handed, that view alone made the trip worthwhile As for the cabbage, FWIW, when I lived in S.A. we only grew them over winter. Summers were brutal down there, so we planted cabbage, broccoli, peas, etc in Fall and grew them over the cold months, with no cover. Overnight temperatures dropped to a bit below freezing here and there and we had heavy frost every other day, at worst.

My MIL's garden was in the frost zone on our farm and our second garden, when we moved to a different part of the farm, was in a very cold spot as well. We didn't have problems with the frost on our plants, including the cabbage. They were just fine. So I would say yours should be o.k. as well. Hard to say 100%, different countries, different varieties of plants, etc. But I think they'll be o.k.

I think they'll be fine with a frost. Most brassicas do well with cold temps. A hard freeze when they're this small might be different.

Weather guessers guessed right for a change. Although it would have helped to get more advanced notice than a few hours before night fall. It looks like my cabbages may have survived. We'll see in a couple of days if they did or not.

But everything else on the garden died (peppers).
