It is right next to a Canada Red Chokecherry that is not quite ripe yet but the robins started on it yesterday and have it nearly stripped today. They haven't touched the yellow ones yet. They normally leave the yellow ones alone until they are dead ripe or I start picking them.

When I start picking them, the robins get right in the tree with me and scream at me while I am picking..

that's a really interesting variety! :)
They are less astringent than the black ones. They are also more likely to get ripe without the birds eating them than the black ones.

I have a Canada Red Chokecherry right next to the big Yellow Chokecherry. It never got ripe enough to pick before the robins had completely stripped it of all cherries leaving the yellow one untouched.

It is also nice that the seeds from the yellow ones will produce new yellow chokecherry trees.

The yellow ones bloom about a week later than the black ones.
