Supper tonight was most of MY favorite things:

Baked Pork Chops
Turnip Greens
Fried Potatoes
Black Eyed Peas
Green Tomato Pickles

Usually I would've fixed cornbread, but it was French Bread this time.

Yum Punkin!!

Wild (chanterelle) mushroom soup and
fresh sourdough bread (if the dough keeps rising as well as it has been!) :fl

My goodness! You all have me drooling! So many delicious things to make and not nearly enough meals to eat them in :)

I meant to make veggie chowder, but we had venison meatloaf instead with herbed corn (onions and rosemary) and olive oil rosemary roasted veggies (peppers, garlic, onions, potatoes, squash). Had hot apple cider and gingersnap cookies at a friend's tonight for dessert. Perfect fall meal!

We had a very healthy dinner - peach casserole

Most folks call it peach cobbler but we decided that since it was dinner casserole sounded more appropriate. Of course there was vanilla icream. Does this count as fruit and dairy? Hope so cause it worked for us.;)

We're having hot dogs. Feeling to pooped to make anything fancy. We will be having them with home made relish though.

Recipe please. :drool I love pumpkin and curry so I gotta try this.
My DH likes to make sourdough bread, but lately it always falls. Don't know what is going wrong.

Here's a curried pumpkin soup recipe:

Pumpkin and Black Bean Soup RecipeRachel Ray
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
3 cups canned or packaged vegetable stock
1 can (14 1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes in juice
1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained
2 cans (15 ounces) pumpkin puree or 4 cups cooked fresh pumpkin
1 cup cream, evaporated skim milk or fat-free half & half
1 tablespoon curry powder
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Coarse salt
20 blades fresh chives, chopped or snipped, for garnish

Heat a soup pot over medium heat. Add oil. When oil is hot, add onion. Saut onions 5 minutes. Add broth, tomatoes, black beans and pumpkin puree. Stir to combine ingredients and bring soup to a boil. Reduce heat to medium low and stir in cream, curry, cumin, cayenne and salt, to taste. Simmer 5 minutes, adjust seasonings and serve garnished with chopped chives.

As for desserts for meals, lately I've been letting the kids have sweet potato and apple pie for breakfast with scrambled or fried eggs. It IS made with whole-grain crust and less sugar! :D
