Organizing and decluttering the homestead

We will be here 3 years in February.......still have unpacked boxes......

Ha @baymule , that was us at our old house. We just didn't have room for anything. I think we may have moved a box that never got opened there (5 years) . But now we have a big house, so everything got unpacked....sort of. There are things in the shop that need to be organized, but they're not things that need to be "unpacked" like camping gear and such. Though there's a room full of stuff upstairs that doesn't have a "proper place" yet. The "office" is the last room I'll tackle.

I still have two suitcases of mostly clothing that needs unpacking and I've been in this house about 4 months now. I finally got my guest room straightened out, but that was because I HAD to. I have an overnight visitor coming Friday.

In my disorganized defense, when we moved here, there was nothing but a doublewide. We built fence, lots of it. We had to clear fence lines before we could build fences. We had a 12'x54' screened porch put on the front. We had a 36'x36' barn built. We raised feeder pigs, sheep and lambs, got more chickens, built coops.....and that's just the BIG stuff. I really do need to get that middle bedroom closet done.....

Baymule, you got a lot done since your move. I am starting to think of unpacked boxes etc, if by now you didn't unpack them, you clearly don't NEED what is in there? Sort and toss maybe. Or leave them packed if you can't toss what is in it.

I have a 12 place setting of beautiful china with all the other pieces that used to be in the big china cabinet I used to have. It is in boxes in the black hole that is my small closet. I just can't bear to part with it. I also have other boxes that by now would be surprise packages.......

Since the closets here had tacky wire racks in them, I tossed them out when I took them down to paint. Poor DH had his hanging clothes in moving boxes for a year before I built his closet. His closet is 10'x4'. One tower is three feet wide, the other is two feet wide, both are 18 inches deep. He loves it.

That is a nice closet! Most I find get too cramped too quickly and finding a good place to put shoes…

I have a few things packed away that I can't bear to part with myself, but don't really have a suitable place to unpack them to, so packed away they stay. For now.

That man has a LOT of clothes!!! NICE closets, Bay!!!! So neat and organized you can see everything at a glance.

I got more baskets and put on the shelves for his socks and underwear. yeah, he has a lot more clothes than I do. I claimed one of those shelves for my stack of blue jeans and I have a chest for my socks, underwear, T-shirts and shorts. I'm going to build towers in the closet in the middle bedroom to store a lot of my canning supplies.
