When I went out to take care of the rabbits last night, my one doe, Belle, was laying on her side so the bottoms of her back feet were visible. She has a big sore spot just below the hock on her right foot. :hitSince I have been feeding in the dark in the morning with a headlamp, and most of the time if during the day, she would be in her hutch, I totally missed this. I had replaced the floor in her hutch with wire because she was using the bunny restroom in there and the wood was getting saturated. I am wondering if its from the wire, or her peeing in that one corner. I had replaced it with wire earlier this summer, and scrub it out once a week, so I am mystified as to what caused it. I am so mad at myself for her getting this injury.
I moved her into the barn into one of the hanging cages and put a nestbox full of straw in there and every available resting pad for her bunny comfort. I only have some novalson ointment I used on my ducks foot to use as an antibiotic. I thought I had some bag balm and some chlorhexidine scrub but cant find it anywhere.
:he
I feel awful this happened. Ive had her over a year and shes been perfectly healthy til now. I am going to build her a bigger hutch and put her hidy hole on the opposite end so maybe she wont want to use that corner to use the bathroom in.
Is there anything else I can do to help her? I will be putting ACV in her water tonight. I read that is suppose to help.

Sorry about the sore. Things happen. I'd say what you are doing will be enough. Urine can be burning on the skin. Apparently she's resting on the urine? Bad girl!

I dont know why she insists on using the bunny bathroom in that spot. I keep it scrubbed out but apparently its not enough. I cant scrub it every day. Now shes inside back in one of the baby saver hanging cages. I just am putting the antibiotic on her foot 2x a day. I caught her licking it tonight. I hope the stuff Im using wont make her sick.

Woo Hoo! Somebody who has more critters than me! I would be putting three bucklings on the sell list this weekend, but something about another storm in the gulf that might give us some issues.... sigh.
