i got one garden put up for winter and spread ashes on it and turned them in somewhat. on to the next chores today. i should be able to get one garden inside the fence scraped quick to get it ready and then back outside the fence to the bean garden that needs to be finished and ashes scattered and turned there too. don't think i can finish it all but i'll give it a shot. :)
wood ash +1๐Ÿ‘

Well cabbages, brussels, spinach, lettuce and peas are still alive after yesterday's snow. My wife says the forecast is for a low of 19 degrees overnight. I'll have to see if it gets that cold tonight or not??? 20 degrees is considered a hard freeze and most likely will put an end to the hardy garden veggies but only time will tell.

As of late this afternoon, snow hasn't completely melted off the north side yet. Looking a little worse for wear after sleet and snow.

Cabbages are still alive and wanting to grow. Thinking about harvesting one to see what it weighs ยฏโ \โ _โ (โ ใƒ„โ )โ _โ /โ ยฏ

9.94 lbs - good gracious, biggest cabbage I ever grew. And this isn't even the biggest one out there, but it was easy to get too.

Just for reference, 17" wide leaf and two granddaughters heads next to the cabbage head. Hard to get it all in a picture, had to stand on a chair ๐Ÿ˜‚

I wouldn't be surprised if there's some 11+ pounders out there.

I need to pickup a couple new 5 gallon food grade buckets and gamma seal screw on lids to make sauerkraut.

Would you all like a quick picture tutorial of how I make sauerkraut?
