Frustratedearthmother's Journaling Journey

So, I actually accomplished something today - and it wasn't a closet cleaning. I filled up 5 empty 5 gallon gas cans to go with the ones that already have fuel in them. Ready for a storm or a rolling blackout I guess.

This evening when I was getting them put into the shed I was thrilled to discover that water was gushing out of the ground. This is getting to be a regular occurrence. Good thing I've got plumbing experience from last year. I've got it dug up already and know where the problem is, but I need parts. DH is on parts gathering duties in the morning. I intend to get this done before it gets hot tomorrow.

I filled up all the animal waterers and a couple gallons of fresh water for the house before I shut it off at the well. I've got about 20 gallons of water in 5 gallon containers that I keep full all the time so I'm covered for flushing. Thank goodness!

I think perhaps an adult beverage is in order.
It’s always something! Never ending 😂
But that’s why we signed up:gig

a long time ago i found out that getting mad and cussing and all that wasn't really helping anything getting done so i have been trying to stop those and just getting on with dealing with it. now i think of it as wasted energy or blowing off steam.

Yep, the the saying, it makes me feel better....... not so much

I don't have the time or energy to be overly upset about this. It is nice to not panic - I just wish I'd had the appropriately sized parts to have gotten it done last night. DH will be buying extra fittings. I have about a 4 ft section of pipe. One end of it has a bend in it - I don't think I'll use that part, lol. I only need maybe a foot - if that much. Eventually I'll get another section of that size pipe to keep on hand - justincase.

Talked to my hay guy yesterday. He didn't cut in July like he thought he might. No rain - no growth. He's hoping for a fall cutting. I'm ok right now. I can dole it out by hand instead of giving them free access. No waste that way and what I have will last longer....but I'd rather not.

you're still my hero @frustratedearthmother just being able to do it. and not because i don't think i could do it myself, i just never think it wise when someone else is living here with me to have that be an issue. if i were here by myself i would likely feel easier about trying to fix some issues and learning that skill. i don't think it beyond me.

Ahhhh, thanks, but I'm just cheap, lol! I absolutely HATE to pay somebody to do something that I might be able to do myself.

Simple fixes like this aren't hard at all. Just cut out the bad spot and put new piece in using couplings. The only thing I worry about is cutting the patch pipe the right length.

I still need to fill in the hole, but I'm not worried about it right now. Probably do it this evening after it cools off - or maybe in the morning.
