    Making it on small acreage

Long time no updates. Life has kinda gotten busy and gotten in the way of a lot of things. We had a horrible year for goat breeding. We only got 3 of them bred and one was by mistake. ON the upside the wool business is really starting to take off. We are having a lot of repeat customers and I...

    Quail_Antwerp: Words from the Barnyard...

My little rat terrier used to chase chickens around and catch them. We broke her by sending her out with a. Muzzle when a game hen had chicks. She hasn't done it since.

    Making it on small acreage

Went to spinning guild today and let's just say it was a good day. Probably the best day I've ever had for selling stuff down there. They all had to tell me how much they missed me at the Festival. I hated to not go, but getting sick kind of cut into it. I did decide today that I may just learn...

We haven't ever used fences out here. I think I've heard the same thing though. DH seems to think we've had the property line wrong for awhile because of some old family stories. QA can't wait until tomorrow morning to get to see LO and it has been FOREVER since we've seen each other. LOL

So the neighbors have officially moved and sold their property. Kind of makes you want to cry. I've grown up with those same neighbors my whole life. On a funny note to that topic, apparently the new neighbors don't know where the property line is at. The keep mowing to the telephone pole. That...

    Lorihadams-- hi guys...been busy!

I do dry mine up before breeding:hide we still feed grain all the way through pregnancy, just go to a lower protein and a lower amount fed. We make sure they get lots of hay. We prefer grass hay. I've heard you're supposed to use alfalfa, but its way to expensive out here and not many other goat...

Sorry wifezilla. Couldn't get pictures of the table. LOL we were swamped a good majority of the time. I will see if I can get a picture of it another day. Its the same setup she uses for the flea markets. Such a great turn out and a couple of preorders. Quite a few ladies took my info and said...

    Making it on small acreage

Heading out to a craft show this morning. I've been working with another lady locally. She sets up at some of the local flea markets and other craft shows. She's been a God send to me. I really wanted to start getting my stuff out there. She can't get a day job so does homegrown farm products...

Thank you for all of the prayers and hugs! They mean so much. We had his memorial service last night. It was such a great turn out. Standing room only in a small country church. Grandma(his mom) was so surprised at the number of people that showed up. We will be burying him tomorrow. It will...

    Making it on small acreage

Been forever since I've been on. We had our county fair and did pretty well. I think the garden is done for the season. On another note we had a very dear family friend pass away on Friday. I was working at Rogers and he was helping his brother to load for Rogers. I've been grieving off and on...

    Making it on small acreage

Went out and weeded the garden for a little bit today since MIL has the kiddos and DH was out in the barn doing chores. He went out later and picked some peppers and a couple tomatoes. I do believe this is the earliest we've ever had tomatoes. :love He went out after I was done( I only lasted...

    Making it on small acreage

Husband took me out after work this afternoon to show me his handiwork for the day. He took a tire that had been dumped back in the woods and cut the sidewalls off of it. Then he loaded it with composted manure and some potting soil, and planted my strawberries in it. I have been waiting for...
