and aparently today is not the day either.

last night i was told, were about 7 hours away from you, will be there 8am...
this morning after i called tham t 8:30 and get a call back they tell me there in BOSTON...
which is 7 1/2 hours away form buffalo (where they were) and another 3 hours from me...

now i talked to them fairly late last night and have a hard time beliving that they didnt get a call form the big boss man about another pick up/drop off untill after that point whihc means they KNEW they had to go to bostom this morning first before comming to me...
now im being told itll be "lunch time" before they arrive here...but theyll be here at lunch time...now lunch time means any time between 12pm and 4pm...

*shoots self in head*

i was hoping to avoid driving down the highway through NY, PA, VA and TN on a weekend...now i cant leave untill tomorrow morning unless i want to spend 2 nights in a motel...

once they get here im getting the owners information, i want a name, number and an official mailing adress so i can send him a letter detailing exactly whats happend, why im unhappy and why ill be reporting this to the BBB, according to the truck guy the only one above him is the owner, according to the truck guy the owner is the one who keeps adding stops and changing the routes...so i want the owner to know exactly whats gone on, why im incredibly unhappy (even if they give me a HUGE discount, im almost a week late!) and give him a chance to spout off before i file a formal complaint with the BBB and report this to the federal moving/insurance folks that keep track of things like complaints.

im in a crappy mood, i just want to curl up and cry im so frustrated with all of this...

and worse, i looked into how much it would cost me to tell these guys to go shove it up their...well...
a 10ft moving truck will cost me anywhere from $1200-$1300, becase of the nature of moving trucks they take the milage nd tell you how long you HAVE to have the truck for, minimum is 5 days.
then the moving trucks get 6-10 mpg when they are NOT loaded, average mpg on a full moving truck is 5-7mpg.
id have to get the truck in the next town over, drive it to my new house, unload it there then drive it to jackson...a total of about 1200 miles

i loked up the average prices of gas in the states ill be traveling through and were averaging about 3.35 a gal right now.

so thats 1200 miles, divided by 6mpg x 3.35 = aproximatly $670 in gas.

now thats assuming my dad could get a week off work to drive it down there for me and help me unload it.

if not...were looking at having to get a 16ft truck (because of needing to tow my car) at $1500 + $200 for the tow hitch, the only places that rent the trucks with the tow hitches are further away form me, so we end up adding 100 miles onto the trip...
plus id need to hire a couple of guys on the other end of the journey to help unload the damned thing...

Oh well, nothing i can do about it right now...cept mabe mutter to myself about how i hope karma gets them all but only after my stuff is safely unloaded at my new house!

i think i need a hug!

I hate to say this, but it sounds like these guys have no intention whatsoever of moving you. Have you paid them anything... a deposit? If it was me, I would be lining up another company.

they have a deposit...

ive been trying to line up another company, but now its "last minute" they need 7 days notice OR the price hikes about $400, plus they want a deposit, and then ive got the same problem of who to go with, aparently BBB acreditation means nothing, ive had issues with some of the big name companies before (like allied and mayflower) and they need even longer notice because they have to send an estimator out first and say they need 8-14 days prior notice...

and i could ditch these guys, hire someone else pay that deposit and have this malarky all start again.

i seriously thought going with a company with an A rating with the better business beuro and accreditation, as well as good ratings from the AMSA, and protectyourmove.gov would give me at least a little bit of a guarentee...

and legally because the delays are officially because of an accident (and an accident report was filed) they are covered for the delay because obviously that 1 delay set back their entire list of pick ups and drop offs...

its ridiculous...
next time, im buying a wagon and a horse and doing it my self...itll take longer but at least i know its getting done!

Well, if you are positively SURE about the accident, then I guess it's a game of wait and see. Just seems like they haven't been honest with you from the get-go. If a wait is inevitable, they should at least be completely up front about a day/time for your pickup. Good grief, what a stressful situation!

another update...
12:30 "just leaving boston...so well be at your house betwen 3:30 and 4 as long as traffic co-opperates"

me: "ok, but just so you know...3:30-4 sounds nothing like lunch time and even less like the 8am you said youd be here last night"
him: "belive me i understand, unfortunatly though if the boss tells me i gotta go back for a pencil...i have to go back for a pencil!...but i swear im going to get you the best discount i can"

hes also offered me a free hotel room and dinner should i ever make it to florida!
i dont know if ishould be flattered or appaled! LOL.

at this point...im kinda too tired to care!

did manage to use this morning well though, helped mum clear out the veggie beds (were not doing a fall planting as it got to late and with me moving and such). still need to weed a little, and we still have 4 egplant and 4 peppers in that all are sudenly flowering profusley and trying to set fruit...*blink blink* yup, our bell peppers have cute little green bells and alot of white flowers...NOW they decide to get busy lol...it only took them untill october. dont know if theyll manage to realy go to fruit before the big cold comes, but were not putting anything else in so decided to let them stay and try for now.
we also have a bunch of onion and garlic that have sent up green, so decided were gonna leave them, mulch em well and hopefully have usable sized onions and garlic come spring as weve been told that both seem to liek to be planted in the fall and harvested late spring here in our area. (and i cant buy onionsets in the fal around here so hey why not!

will top dress the beds before it gets too cold with our chicken coop compost (been sat since early spring) and then possibly plant a winter cover crop, was thinking clover?! thoughts?

other than that nothing going on...

yet another update...
call from the movers they are on their way and still looks good for 3:30-4pm time frame, but they hit a little traffic comming through hartford (suprised face)

he sounded tired and mildly defeated...
aparently im the last job before they get to go home to miami (so im assuming its me last on truck and me first off?!) so hopefully that will be good incentive for them to get their tushes in gear.
if they can pick up today and dropp of monday/tuesday id be more than ok with that...happiness however will 100% depend on the discount lol.

i will say this..least they are calling me and keeping me in the loop, i think if they had no intention (or intentions of there being this many isues) he wouldnt have given me his personal cellphone number...and can you imagine how frustrated i would have been if id had to be dealing with their main office through all of this getting relayed messages through some receptionist who has no idea whats going on at all!?

i wont be reccomending them...
i will be filing a formal complaint with the owner

wether i file BBB or not however will depend on exactly what these guys are going to offer me to make up for all the wasted time and stress!

I would make a full report to the BBB, including the amount of the compensation provided to you for this. They use all that information to do their ratings. also, there's a good chance they'll post your report on the website for others to read, and make their own decisions about the company. :)
