100.How old are you? 26

and while others said dont bother...
i am bisexual, pagan and liberal but dont get involved in polotics

so yeah, thats the long and short of it...

i currently live with my parents in connecticut...and while its a pretty state...its just too expensive for me.
im currently in the process of looking to relocate and right now eastern TN seems to be winning, i hope to buy an older but functional mobile on 5-10 acres asap...but i need another 7 months of rent checks to qualify for the loan...so im currently looking for a rent to buy option to try and move thigns along, i knwo i wont find much because im looking to spend only about $30,000 but hey, theres gotta be something out there right?!
im planning a trip through virginia into knoxville area and then back up through nc in mid spring to get a better idea of exactly where i want to be.

suggestions welcome, i want 4 seasons but a milder winter than connecticut, within an hour to a city and within 2 hours of an airport, low-no restrictions on land use and preferably within 1/2 hour to a lake/water source large enough to sail

my "plan" is to have a little homestead eventually replace the mobile/cottage with a custom built small earth bermed home with a living roof and eventually work my way off grid switching to solar and wind.
im a LONG way from that yet, but its all in the plan.

i also plan on having a small orchard, berry patches and of course vegatable gardens, herbs too. and i want dairy goats, sheep and alpaca for wool, chickens geese ducks and turkey, rabbits and livestock guardian dogs.

oh yes...lots of big plans, i just know they will all come together eventually though...im determined!

umm, what else...
i grew up on a small family farm in the uk, loved it...

so yeah...i think thats it...
ive been told so many times that as a 26yr old "girl' theres no way i can survive int he self sufficient lifestyle...even now theres so much stigma that only men can pound fences and sheer sheep, but i refuse to accept that

i thought this would be a realy good way to doccument my journey over the next year and beyond.
and to show that anyone can become more self sufficient with the help of books, internet and wonderfull supportive people on forums like these!

If you got a couple of New Zealand Red does and a Harlequin Buck youd have fast growing meaty babies with harliquinized coats (the harlequin gene is dominant to the red gene)
or those same NZ red does with a nice Tri-colored Rex Buck (keep a couple does from that back and breed back to daddy and you shoudl get 50/50 on the rex pelts in 2nd gens)
the NZ would give you the faster grow out rate and slightly larger size than the rex or hali, but the ej gene in a harli (or tri-rex) would give you that patterning.
youd need a broken red to get the tri-color/calico out of the harli buck which you wouldnt need with a tri-rex...but a harli might be easier to ind depending on your area :)
a trio would be plenty to start you off :)

yeah I was worrying about getting the slope right to get the best slip and slide going...
mabe the DPI hardwood wall paneling might work better, they have a smooth high gloss white that could work nicely...
the oher option with that would be to run it sloped from high in back to low in fron and run a piece of gutter along the front and slow that down into buckets at the ends, buckets would be easier to dump than under bed boxes. and the cost of 10ft vinyl gutter plus a bucket would still be less than an under bed box.
with the guttering I could just use a feed scoop for anything that gets stuck and run a hose on it once in a while...

well, some possibly good news, she reached therapudic levels last night and they have weaned her off the heprin and onto jut Coumadin today...
and the infection in the leg has responded well to antibiotics...
there is actually talk of her possibly mabe coming home tomorrow.
dads going to try and get a week of working form home to make sure we wont have any suprises this first week (im TERRIFIED of her coming home having a set back and me not being able to catch it in time or something)
so...
fingers crossed.
I think the possibly coming home news had her happy today a she was chipper on Skype this morning.
dads with her this afternoon and hopefully we should have a better idea by the time he gets home.
im personally jut toodling about a bit before doing some cleaning up...(the more I get done today the less hell freek out tomorrow lol)

we did go out this morning and pick up a fantastic facebook find freebie, a STUNNING solid cherry wood office beuro andbook case.
its designed so the bookcase sits ontop of the drawer unit, but...the piece is just as nice free standing.
the drawer unit is going to be in the livingroom for mums angelfish tank, once we get the tank dad is going to make a canopy to hide the plastic light equiptment and hell match it with stain and trim ot the dresser so the whole thing should look like it mean tot be 1 piece.
the book case dad was originaly going to put in his office...but its HUGE (6ft long by about 5ft tall!) so it may end up going in the dining room as buffet/display.

its missing a single knob on the center door...going to take the other off and take it with me next time I go to town and see if we can find something that matches, if not ill get a pair of something close...
its gorgeous, 22" deep, 6ft long, more than enough room for the tank AND space to put some nice decorative bits.
plus...lots of hidey sorage, the 2 bottom drawers are file drawers, and then the upper draws have fun little dividers (for supplies origionally)
theres shelves inside the front too :)

cant belive this thing was free, solid dovetail joints real wood...this was a vey expensive piece and beyond a few little dings its in great shape.

because I found him this dad has given me the go ahead on simply buying a new tank, its $150 for the tank, with EVERYHING we need (filter, heater ect) so hes putting in 1/3rd, bros putting in 1/3rd and im putting in 1/3rd...least I know a brand new tank is structurally sound :)

I might ACTUALLY have this pulled together in time for her birthday.
ive got a much better idea of how im doing the sand falls that will be much less involved/likely to go wrong...and I think im going to simplify the plan some...still inkeeping with th same idea but just not quite as large scale :)

so with that all said and done..im tired, but I need to do some tidying up so...of I go.

20ft long and 10ft wide :D
I was using 2 of them for the same amount of cages so wasn't sure id be able to figure out a good layout to fit everything in 1 but this is actually perfect.
doing bunny chores this morning and this evening was a lot easier, walked down the center isle grabed what I needed form each side...and done.
the center isle is about 4 ft wide so perfect width for my wheelbarrow too when it time to clean out, wheel it in one end along the aisle and out the other. :)

im still undecided on if the angora are staying or leaving...we'll see after this next round of babies.

I realy should to to bed...
but theres a puppy sleeping in my lap...and shes not oig to fit there for very long ith the rate shes growing!

been a relitivly quiet day today got my apt seen too, and painted some gourds for my commission
she wanted 2 for herself with "multicolored roses"
so I did these 2

1381328_10202317077311321_56993730_n.jpg

and
1150792_10202317077551327_1803539923_n.jpg

they kind of mirror eachother with the one with blue and cream roses having pink and peach flowers an the one with the pink and peach roses having blue and cream flowers...
I dint want to put more than 2 colors in the roses themselves as I think it would have looked too crazy.
realy likeing how they turned out!

then the other 2 she anted "lots of colorful flowers"
so I did a 2nd similar to my cray daizy shastas, using pink and white daisies and pureple yellow and cream flowers, (for some reason the picture didn't take)

and then this one
1374901_10202317077471325_1623732167_n.jpg

which icall black eyed susan (even though th centeres arnt realy darkenough lol) with the gold and yellow daisy type flowers and purple pansies and pink and white flowers. to kinda make it look like the color scemes were meant to go together.

ive got 2 more basecoated and ready to be painted...
then ill get another batch painted up. hoping to have enough to set up a littlespot at the flea market and littlefall craft fairs over the next 2 months...
ive also gota bunch of little wooden premade birdhouses that ill paint up, theyl be in the $10-$15 range with the gourds in the $15-$25 range, *fingers crossed*
