The soup-a-rama has begun. Beef bones roasted, in the slow cooker to render the bone broth. I also bought frozen chicken backs for round two. 6 pounds of stew meat bought. Frozen vegetables were on sale, so variations of beef or chicken soups are coming soon

6 pounds of ground round in meatloaf form in the freezer, 5 pounds browned up, now cooling, will be vacuum sealed in one pound packages.

I'm working thru some apples...not completely sure what they will end up as -- applesauce, apple butter, or ?? Something canned!! Just getting too ripe & need processing!

Chickens loving the scraps 😋 Saved some for goat treats. Have more, not over ripe, to make pie today/tomorrow. Pumpkin pies I'm making today.

The beef vegetable soup is outstanding. The roasted bone broth, simmered for 36 hours in a big roaster is sooooo creamy to the mouth feel. Before eating, I added some heated previously canned white potatoes. 😋

16 pints of beef vegetable soup, with half the broth remaining yet. French onion soup tomorrow.

These electric pressure canners are the bomb.

A while back I had some bottles pop their lids in the canner. Might have gotten some pretty severe burns, if I hadn't had aloe vera on hand.

Anyway, I've been trying to figure out what happened, and I think I found it.

Part of the batch was new generic bottles, part old bottles. New lids, old lids.

The new lids and bottles aren't as deep! Match an old bottle with a new lid, the ring doesn't match up, and vice versa.

Old bottle and new ring, the ring doesn't go on far enough and blows when the pressure gets too high. New bottle and old ring, the ring stays on but the bottle doesn't seal because there's not enough pressure on the lid.

Mystery solved! No more stupidity with buying cheaper. Not in this area!
