    fishing question

Fishing is a blast! I'm glad you had a good time. I guess my first question is what are you trying to catch? Right now, in my area, shellcrackers are biting like crazy, nice big ones. I use a small hook for panfish, pinch the worm off, and thread it onto the hook from the pinched end, and...

Tips for keeping up with everything

Great tips! The youngest does help daily. He has had a ton of homework lately so he has had fewer chores to do. His school has seen a drop in grades with the school year winding down and kids getting lazy, so they are laying it on thick with the homework. The oldest living at home is 19. He...

Tips for keeping up with everything

I feel so overwhelmed everywhere with everything! I have never been, and will never be a wonderful housekeeper. I don't mind a lived in look at all, so being an "overachiever" is not my issue. I just can't find the time to keep up with anything anymore. I already know and employ a few...

    DIY Laundry Detergent Victory!

Dumb question about the powdered detergent, but here goes. Does it work well in cold water? I hardly ever (unless my whites are extremely dirty) use hot water. I've been making the liquid for quite a while now, and save about $60/month on laundry detergent. I'd love to try the powdered.

A new Beginning !! Need advice

I recently seen a segment on the news that I thought was very intriguing. A chiropractor has found that some people's blood pressure is caused by the uppermost vertebrae being out of alignment. He has cured several people's blood pressure by making an adjustment to this area. Of course, it...

A new Beginning !! Need advice

If you can take the heat, crush up some dried cayenne pepper into about 2 ounces of vinegar and drink it. My grandma was an herbalist. She controlled her blood pressure for YEARS with this remedy.

    What do you all think?

I have a pint jar left of dehydrated spearmint leaves that I would be glad to mail you if you want to PM me your address. I can pop them in tomorrow, you'll have them Monday. Just let me know. My brother struggled with asthma for years when he was a youngster. The things that helped were the...

    Got a free rabbit hutch

What a great find!!! I'd love to run across something like that :D Head on over to backyardherds, they have a breeder's list for rabbits on one of the rabbit forums. You may be able to find what you are looking for there. I have just started raising rabbits. My primary reason to raise...

I'm Jill and this is my totally twisted point of view

Hey Jill! About that kitchen....I totally understand. There are cheap little things that you can do to make it a more welcoming space for you. I had issues with mine too when I moved in. Our house is 90 years old. My husbands ex had it decorated with the ugliest paneling I have ever seen...

Can we talk about bread making?

I'm a new breadmaker too. I have found a method that gives me a beautiful thick crust and a nice crumb inside. The family loves it. I found it on motherearthnews.com. Make a fairly wet dough, and the one called for on the website takes very little yeast, let it rise for a nice long time...

    Boot Birdhouse

Love it! I collect birdhouses :D When my little boy outgrew his 4 year old boots, I planted a Christmas Cactus in them. Boys just can't part with their boots :D

    Beeswax

This is one that I haven't heard of before. I made a bread bag recently out of some quilting fabric, recycled plastic (from a store-bought comforter) and muslin. If I had heard of doing this, I would have skipped the plastic. I foresee me making another one in the very near future. I do...

LONG SHOT, looking for property in TN - update, opinion wanted...

Check out for sale by owner (fsbo.com), but be sure to check everything out well. There are a lot of places around my neck of the woods that are for sale by owner, but I don't know if they are listed on this website. I am in the extreme southern end of Montgomery County, about 60 miles north...
