we are discussing a family stay at home day for tomorrow right now.
YES! Stay home! The roads will be iced tomorrow and dangerous.

Going to be 12 degrees here tonight. Our female Pyrenees, Paris, has a dog house stuffed with hay, the male, Trip, sleeps on the screened porch, he has two dog beds. I heard him early, early this morning, barking to beat the band, so the cold didn't faze him.

Last night I got this.......

Moments later, I got this......

He was happy to go back outside when we went to bed.

I think your Pyrenees will be fine as long as he has a warm place to sleep if he wants to.

Pyrs are fine in the cold. 5 is nothing for that coat! Sheep farmer I know can't get her Pyrs to come in when it's - 20.

I finally got around to sheet mulching under the rabbit hutches and put a few inches of wood chips under them. I'm hoping if I leave it alone I may have some good compost type stuff for raised bed filler next spring

I always have plenty of grass clippings in the summer. Like trailer loads of it! I may throw some under there too.

In the very least, I won't habe to weed eat under the hutches anymore. :)

I might be getting a little ahead of myself. I started a few seeds tonight. Onions, lettuce, and some herbs. Basil, thyme and oregano.

I'm pretty sure by the time the onions get ready to transplant they will be ready for the weather. Not so sure about the lettuce and herbs. I may end up transplanting the herbs in bigger pots. Idk anything about herbs except they help keep pests away from plants. I suppose if I had to I could build some low tunnels for the beds out of off and clear plastic. I should probably do that anyway!

Thyme and oregano is fairly tough, but annual sweet basil is NOT. The perennial one is tougher than the annual. If you did the latter, I'd wait until it's really spring and warm with no chance of frost before moving that outside. Though they do well in pots on the window sill as well.

Did a little expanding today to keep the dogs out of the raised beds. Still need to build a gate and there's room for 3 more beds. And of coarse I need to sheet mulch around the beds
