A new journey into homesteading "pic heavy"

Thank you all for the warm replies.

it's 40°f in my shed this morning. The incubator is maintaining temp like a boss. Humidity is down to 30% though.

The 2 chicks from last hatch are in there as well. They seem content with the heat lamp.

I went ahead and candles the eggs just now. I have 50 fertile eggs. Removed the infertile eggs and 1 blood ring.

So far so good. Fingers crossed

God I get sick of waiting for these things to hatch! They are still alive and waiting.

I need like 40 birds in the freezer NOW! But I guess that's gonna be more like February at best

rabbits are due the 31st, 1st and 2nd and not one of them is pulling fur yet. I think all 3 missed.

Ahhh...patience!! It's hard for me to wait a hatch, wait a grow out, wait for first eggs!!!! That's just to see if the "experiment" crosses worked! :idunno At least you get several to wait on.

Still, faster than waiting for my foals...& you only get ONE. :p

I'd say, if these eggs are for butcher, you may have longer than Feb to wait. That is, if you want larger birds. :hide

ETA: Oh, no -- rabbits not preggers? At least they can rebreed and gestate fast!

Aww....that sucks. Did you see the buck breed the does or just leave her in the buck's cage? If you saw the buck do his thing, fall off, and to have all 3 does miss, that just sucks.
