Cold!

32F here last night. Lowest we got to so far was around 17F, but that's unusual for us, so not too likely to happen again or frequently. I won't mind a bit more snow, but today is beautiful, dry, clear and sunny :)

It does. I went for a walk with DS, since it's so warm and dry and sunny out, but the wind spoiled it for us, so we didn't go far. I was thinking why does it have to be windy like this? It's perfect outside, but for that ruining the warmth and sun…

It's currently - 8F here. My water didn't freeze though! DH will be home from work tonight and putting heat tape on the pipes. Supposed to be below - 10 every night for the next week. We haven't had cold like this for so long in years. It feels like when I was a kid. My step-dad saw - 48 once here. No thanks!

Good heavens, that is cold. Hopefully it will warm up a fraction soon and won't cause any issues with stuff freezing. My chickens' water was frozen over this morning, but I could knock it loose and remove some of it easy. I had to go right into the back to empty the ash bucket on the compost heap and was delighted to find the mud frozen over, so I kept my shoes clean, walking over it. So there are some plusses to this nonsense lol

After the most beautiful, sunny day... It snowed. We're going down to 26°F tonight they say. Oh boy.

it was 27 this morning. Supposed to dip down to 17 this weekend. I don't like it

Oh, can I get in on the cold competition too? lol

Was a beautiful -16C (3 F) today at the warmest, had a lovely x-country ski in the woods today. Van wouldn't start this morning though after the -30 c (-22 f) night. Going to be like this all week as well. We won't talk about what happens to those temperatures when the wind is whipping across the fields. I don't blame the chickens for not stepping outside their coop.

We are under an "extreme cold warning"

Wishing some warmth to all my fellow cold homesteaders! :hugs
