Dawn419 & doc's LSTA: Confounded Computer!!!

Deb,

If it makes you feel any better, I managed to jinx myself, too! :hugs

They are now calling for a 20% chance of rain and NNW winds of 15 mph. It usually rains more here on the 20% chances than when we have a 90 - 100% chance. :hu

Long, LOUD sigh... :th

The weather has been crappy here ever since I got my ginseng seed, so they're still sitting in the bottom drawer of the fridge. If it's not raining, then it's too windy for me to get back to the area I want to plant (lots of big dead branches still in the tree tops). :hit

Oh well, I've atleast been getting the camper a bit more organized each day, getting my veggie/herb seeds organized, playing with my kefir cheese and reading my ginseng growers book.

Winter has decided to visit us, just in time for doc's 3 days off (of course  ), supposed to be down in the teens tonight, freezing tomorrow (was gonna cut some wood for mom while we're there for our civilized visit) and supposed to snow on Monday (when mom was gonna come over and we were gonna get seeds started). :duc By the middle to end of next week we'll be back close to 60 degrees again! :th

On a happy note...the girls have been giving us 2 - 3 eggs a day, all of the fall planted garlic has sprouted and is growing like crazy and the mesclun mix that I sowed is finally sprouting! Soon as this little winter passes us by I'll be sowing my peas, carrots, radishes, broccoli, brussels sprouts, more lettuce and other greens. :D

After I logged off earlier, I checked the weather again... :smack ...wind chills in the single digits for tonight and tomorrow night. :hit

So, I hauled in extra indoor water for us, topped off the birds' waterers and feeders, added a few soda bottles (with a bit of water in them) to the rain barrels so that they won't freeze solid, gathered up my extra waterers so I can fill them tomorrow while I thaw out the other ones and filled extra jugs with rain water for the birds.

The wind has really picked up since it's gotten dark and I can barely hear myself think as the wind chimes are so loud! :hide

Time to dig out the winter-wear again! The temperature's dropping fast now...:hit

Stay warm!!! :hugs

edied to add weather link...

Decided to cancel the civilized visit today due to the cold. We managed to make it to 31 F but don't want to know the temp with the wind chill figured in. Brrr!

Got the birds their thawed water, broke ice in the rain barrels so I'd have warm, thawed water for them tomorrow and Bubba was in heaven, monster ice cube heaven! :gig

Cancelled mom's visit here for Monday since it's supposed to be a nasty mix of snow/sleet.

The highlight of the day was getting 4 eggs!!! :celebrate Way to go girls!!! Coldest day of the winter and they squeeze out 4 eggs! :th

Almost forgot...glad we cancelled the visit to mom's because at 4 p.m., the 90# propane bottle ran empty and that's what we heat the camper with. We'd have come home to a 22' ice cube tray.

We've done that before! Even in AZ it was in the twenties at night sometimes. So we ran out at night of course. We had the two schnauzers but it was a three dog night and we were one short!!!!

:yuckyuck Ah, the joys of living in a camper! :gig

Winter is officially here...it's SNOWING and has been since about 5 a.m.. Doc's work schedule has him back on days (6:30a - 6:30p), just in time for this to hit so we talked it over yesterday and he'll be getting a room around the corner from work for the night. He travels mostly back-roads and they don't do any clearing of the roads here until after the weather quits so we figured better safe than sorry! ;)

Haven't taken any pix yet as it had been coming down really lightly for hours but it's finally picking up and you can no longer see the ground. The road must not be too bad as what traffic I've seen isn't going slow but that'll change in a few hours, once the snow changes over to ice/freezing rain.

Well, I'm gonna go brush off the coops and soft-side shed roof and get Bub out for a run then I'll break out the camera! ;)

You can keep that snow there! Most of what we got over the weekend is gone, and I don't want any more. But, at least we have gotten some winter weather finally. I just hope it's enough.

Happy Sweethearts Day!!! :hugs

Well, our snow/ice wasn't near as bad as they were calling for...whew! I was prepared and that's how it usually works. ;)

I knocked snow off the coops and soft-side shed, just in case though. After I got that done and made sure the birds had warm water then I came in to thaw out for a bit. Once we had a decent break in the snow, I bundled back up and got Bub out for about an hour and we had a blast! It was a wet snow which meant snowballs!!! :D

When we first got Bub (around this time last year), we bought him several toys and he wasn't impressed with the tennis ball. However, yesterdays snowballs were a huge hit and he was really jazzed over chasing them and then making them explode in his mouth. He'd get this crazy look on his face and start running in circles, then crouch down and wait for me to throw him another one. I wish I had a video camera to catch it all...it was hilarious! :gig

It's 45 here now and most of the snow is gone. Supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow with a chance of thunderstorms tomorrow night. :th Then close to 60 for a few days... :hu

It was a good snow...just enough to be pretty and GONE today!

He's 70 pounds of spastic lap dog (in his world)! :gig We need to get his paperwork taken care of so we can stud him out a time or two and get one of his off-spring. He was bred for confirmation but would make an excellent agility dog. He's pretty positive that our land is one big wooded agility course! :gig

Well, I need to get off of here and make a few phone calls before it gets too late!

Back in a bit...
