Hi BubblingBrooks,

The regular bloodwork/thyroid has always been normal for me and it was this time too. I agree about the adrenal issue, from what I read and from what I suspect started it with me. Our family doctor wants me to return to a specialist I saw about 2 years ago- and I'll certainly ask for more specific work-up or treatment options. I have tried a variety of supplements, diets over the past few years- not much consistency of response.

Thanks for reminding me- I need to start a list of things to ask about.

Yes, I have "normal" thyroid tests as well.
Going gluten free made the hugest real difference for me, and now I am using Adrenal Refresh and Maca Root to finish out.
Finally getting better!

I know the adrenal test is different, and will not show up.
You have to get Cortisol levels checked to show what is really going on.

Hi OFG,

Good to hear from you. I have been sick from my fibromyalgia for a little over 3 weeks now- have no idea what set it off or why I couldn't seem to shake it. Am feeling much better today, so am getting back into our SS group (although I've been reading all along, just not posting).

Our hulless oats were planted last week- we did a 30 x 40 foot plot. Maybe we'll have somegrown oatmeal by the fall. (It was kind of spur of the moment decision, so have no idea how we are going to cut/thresh/clean it- YET). We are usually really good about researching stuff like that ahead of time, but I guess I will consider this to be our oat adventure. At the worst, we'll feed it to the chickens and use it for bedding.
hey have you checked out "Small Scale Grain Raising"??? i LOVE it! he teaches you how to grow garden sized patches of grain and gives you all the how-to's... check it out at your library or used books on amazon

:)

BB, did going gluten free change your hypothyroidism?
Greatly! In fact, I would venture to say, that I was/am not truly hypo.
I have adrenal fatigue, which does create interesting thyroid issues, but finding out I have celiacs, answered all the questions for us.
Now I just have to heal fully form all the years of damage.

I do eat oats, but they have to be properly prepared, hence my recipe for soaked baked oatmeal.

See, if you have an autoimmune disease, no matter what kind it is, it will wreak havoc on the endocrine system. A slow death to it, so to speak. And it usually starts with the adrenals.

I have been reading and I can't believe not a one of you has mentioned MY favorite way to eat oatmeal yet.

Very thick, with some sugar, a little milk and several slices of crunchy BACON broken up in it. YUM BACON!!! A little creamy, a little sweet and a lot BACON!!

So, do you still take thyroid meds? i have jsut had my Rx increased. And I do have autoimmune disease. I looked at the adrenal fatigue, and it does not really match me .
