Yeah, I like bright fabric. The flower one was originally to be a receiving blanket (thus the coordinating color) but it turned out to be a boy (thus the leftover green and blue dot one).

I'm the crazy lady who says "light pink for a baby girl? Naw.... bright yellow and purple!!" Hey, I like to be different!

I still have a few more days, and then I'll be able to update how well they actually work! TMI? :hide
 
No, not TMI. It was lurking on such threads that got me brave enough to try. And I am gradually getting others hooked. I have two elderly friends with tinkle issues fully hooked, and two younger friends who are starting to ask me questions without quite the same level of :sick I will be making them a small gift package of styles to try, as soon as I finish up the last few for the second older person.
 
So these are pretty awesome. I didn't bother with snaps, just a safety pin. The one with the white mesh was nice since it worked the way I hoped, wicking away moisture. Of course, they're more bulky than the store bought plastic ones, though not bad. I'm still tweeking the pattern, but so far I can see making these a permanent thing. Just one more thing I don't have to buy!
 
You'll probably like them so much, the bulkiness will be a worthwhile trade-off. Unless you are very attached to your spandex glitter pants! :lol:
 
Short of buying another set of underware for that time and sewing in velcro - I am having major issues with them traveling. Making the wings tight just bunches up the crotch of the panties. Ideas?

Hey there! :frow have you tried pins, or the good ole fashioned belt? I have pinned the front before, but the velcro panties sounds like a neat idea.
 
I put a pin in the front on the outside, it works great.

I made a bunch for an elderly friend with velcro on the pads and on the underwear, and am currently doing another set for another friend. Apparently the velcro is wonderful and easy to use.

Now I wish I had made mine with velcro and bought another set of underwear for "that time." It would be worth the convenience.

A tip if anyone is making incontinence supplies for an elderly person, use velcro that contrasts with the underwear and the pads for easy visability. Also, color-code the top (absorbent) side of the pad and the bottom (waterproof) side with contrasting fabrics. Especially the winged pads, since they can be put on wrong-side up quite easily.

I've found that mine don't bunch up, but I DID have that problem with the first one I made. That one looked like this style. http://tipnut.com/free-pattern-for-washable-feminine-menstrual-pads/ So when I made another one (on page 7) I cut the wing separate. The inside part ends up being about the same length as the pantie. I also use a safety pin to close it. It's not perfect, but there isn't much bunching.

When I make the rest (I'm so behind!) I will probably line the wing with PUL so that I don't worry about leaks. Not to mention that I need to make an overnight sized one. I also need to make some that will work like "light days" but still be water proof.

Gah I have a lot to do! But good thing I still have flannel left over.
 
ok so I just ventured over from BYC, I am LOVING this site! And I love this topic! I tried the Diva Cup, but it would cause me to cramp. But I LOVE this idea.. I am so making some!:clap

Here's a thought... ever hear of those sham wows? I wonder how those would work...they are supposed to last 10 years.
