girl to girl: how many of you gals chop your own firewood...by hand?

Just wondering if it is worth it to buy an axe/hand log splitter for chopping wood. Be kind, I'm from the south where chopping wood wasn't necessary.

I wish I had a log stove or fire place so I could chop my own wood! And I would too!

Dad used to make me split wood. He was afraid my brother would chop something off! LOL

Axe. And, I split the majority of wood around here w/this type of axe.

Most axes I have a problem with-I had 2 operations on my left shoulder, and had the nerve moved in my right elbow. This axe I can use w/no problem.

Ok, thanks guys er gals. Now for the next question...can you use the same axe for chopping AND splitting? Or are there different types for each job?

I cut it w/a chainsaw, and then split it w/the axe! While I have used the axe for chopping wood, it takes too long. I have too much to do to want to chop wood!
