Eek! Not who you want to find in your yard at night! Glad your animals are all ok!
One of my dogs paced half the night but didn't go to the door so I ignored her. DH said this morning the coyotes were CLOSE last night. Guess they were bothering her. Wish I had a guard dog out there!
The cats didn't return last night. Hopefully they learned a lesson and I won't have any more problems with them. Not something I really want to tangle with...
Geesh!!! I really would not want those around!! Maybe you should add some more hot wire, further out & closer to the woods?
Glad your dog is back safe! With predators like that you may want to carry all the time! I would. Makes my snake worries seem very minimal issues. Thanks (I think)
We have some bobcats in the area, coyotes, too. Most not immediately close (?) but, have seen both within 4-5 miles. I live about 30 miles from The Great Dismal Swamp, which is home to a good sized population of black bear. So far, none have wandered here. Hope it stays that way.
Oh side note to those of you who didn't know about the darling Fishers we have here. I was talking to DH this morning and he informed me they can kill a full grown DEER! A weasel that can kill a deer. Heck I am so glad we don't have wolves or mountain lions here.... We have enough scary creatures!
They help, but close is good as far as I'm concerned. It might be because we haunt the reject rack at Lowes. If it is curved, bowed or flawed, IT'S MINE.
Mr. Chopper must be like a dinner bell to the wildlife here in southern Illinois. Tonight more commotion... Mr. Chopper going nuts, chicken alarm went off, turkey tom gobbling like crazy. My outdoor gaurd dog cornered a freaking Bobcat. The bobcat was not backing down nor was.my guard dog. I tried to call my guard dog off but nothing doing.... So I grabbed the 12 guage and fired into the air and that broke them up but my dog is pretty tore up I'll see what he looks like in the morning but I suspect he's gonna need to visit the vet.
The bad thing is now there is a Bobcat kit hanging out by the chicken yard crying for it's momma that I scared off.i can't see it but I can hear it and honesty it sounds pretty dogone mean. Spiting and growling. My guard dog now that he got some sense about him, and only get so close to it. Momma Bobcat hasn't come back for it yet. I suspect momma bobcat is pretty tore up also.
Edit...
Just great... now my guard dog has the kit treed in the grand daddy maple tree not far from the front door. I really don't want to have to shoot it - It's just a little kit. But I sure am not gonna go pick it up either. I think I'll just go to bed and see what the morning light brings.
