The race card? Seriously? :gig
Yes, seriously unless you are pulling the wool over your own eyes. You have to be blind if you can't see it. Please don't mistake that I am saying that everyone that disagrees with his policies is a racist. That's just foolish. I would put the % at perhaps 15% flat out racist. Another 10% in the back of their heads even if they don't realize it. Those are the people that still shake their heads when they see a white woman with a black guy and wonder what she sees in him. The first 15% are the ones that carry placards with Obama in white face or blame white kids getting beat up on the bus on Obama. Yes racism is alive and well in the USA. Don't bother denying it to me.

I'm always amused that the minority thinks they represent the majority. Beck gets 15000 people to show up at the capital
Wow, you've dropped it to a new low. Even the DC fire department estimated it to be 75,000, although Homeland Security's website said 1.3 million. Love those statistics, don't we?
I heard the DC fire dept said 10 to 15k. I guess it depends on who is quoting the figures huh. Shows you how worthless figures are. You're still in the minority either way. It's ok though. You're opinion does count.

if it were a takeover than we would have universal care tomorrow...no choice point blank.
That is EXACTLY what they tried to do. Remember the original August "deadline"?
Single payer Universal care was never on the table. Obama would have liked to see that because it is by far the best solution. However a group of wise men many days ago decided that the public would be too afraid of such drastic change. So they tried to get public option instead. That too has been ruled out by the conservatives because it wouldn't give the insurance companies a chance to make billions of dollars.

I think that instead of forcing people to carry health insurance they should just change the rules. If you have insurance you must keep your card at all times. If you don't then you will have to post a 100,000$ bond before you can be admitted to any emergency treatment and pay in advance for any routine medical treatment or at least have a payment plan set up. That way MY tax dollars aren't spent on people that don't want insurance.

The government should also start a campaign against unhealthy food. Problem there is that there are different opinions about what is and isn't healthy. For example I never knew that bacon fat was good for you.

Really, I see it in many things: Defense and war rather than diplomacy and peacemaking, desperate "fixes" for the climate rather than being reasonable about energy usage ahead of time, after-the-fact, IMO ridiculous security measures rather than reasonable measures before a disaster. We seem to be a reactive society rather than a preventive one.
Have you been talking to Mr Obama again? Those are some of his key talking points. Not many people seem to hear them though. Too busy calling him a Nazi and a Socialist.

Prevention is the cure for our health care system in the long run and the short run. Right now everyone needs to get problems fixed at a health clinic before they have to go to an emergency room.

Whenever a local government tries to do something about food the local conservatives yell no fair nannyism. They say people should be able to figure out healthy eating on their own. Same with sex education. It's a family thing. Unless your parents aren't sure where all their kids came from. Then it's a social problem.

Sorry I'm off track.

Yes, that is another aspect of "industries that can spend waaaaay more on promotion and advertising than the gummint would ever be able to". The pharmaceutical industry is even better than food industries at finding multiple sneaky ways to spend money to convince us all to buy as many of their products as possible. Sigh.

I keep 2 bathtubs in my backyard.

I'm waiting for them to have 2 guys in the bath tubs. Wouldn't that be a hoot?

only reason I say pharma ads should be pulled from the airways is we are not doctors.

if I see high BP meds being offered, I ask my doctor for it, and he says sure but this one might be better for you---and I disagree like an idiot cause that commercial swears it will fix me---and I get super sick and croak....UGH----well I know that is my fault, but if I didn't see that ad maybe the Dr. would have given me the best and only advice I needed.

Somehow those drugs commercials just seem invasive to people's minds who don't truly have the knowledge needed to assess them.

I don't know...I don't like them..HA HA

Believe me, the insurance company has a pyramid of "coverability" of certain drugs, no matter what drug you want to ask your doctor for. It also doesn't really matter if you have a history of a certain drug working better for you, you will first need to try the one the insurance company dictates, then the next one, then the next, even if you go through 4 of their first-to-try drugs before reaching the one you know to work for you.

This would be another way we waste money in this system. I guess, though, I can cross my fingers and assume the insurance companies have a really good reason for their pyramid of drug availability. I'm afraid, though, it has to do with their cost and the insurance company's profits.

I have seen this happen over and over again.
