Ohiofarmgirl'sAdventuresinTheGoodLand-where ya been? whatcha been doin

Halloooooooo!

Anybody home?

*SD spots the three dogs, has a moment of fear as they come bounding over to see who is trespassing on the porch. SD has a scary moment and then they recognize her smell (of dog) and start waving their tails in happiness and doing their best to be the first one petted by SD

"Where is yo mama?" SD asks

Kai drags a pig's head, which she is holding lovingly, out from behind the barn and SD smells a god-awful smell coming from it. She realizes that the dog she has been petting has been chewing on that disgusting thing and she marches in the kitchen to wash her hands. How long ago did they slaughter that pig? I'm surprised I can even tell what it is still.......can't get that smell off my hands.

and spots the pie......on the counter.....just asking for someone to finish it off......ummmm

mom murf yum yum gobble gobble (as SD quickly gobbles down last two pieces). Can't find a napkin. So SD sneaks back out on the porch, wiping hands on jeans, and tries to hide the fact that the dogs want to lick her sticky pie covered hands. *

Heh, OFG, your dogs don't mind if I steal the pie! hah hah Better get a karelian bear dog.

*OFG walks up from feeding the pigs, sees everyone hanging around eating pie*

hey everyone!

*glares at dogs for being push-overs but then realizes that they love their Auntie SD*

"Kai! where did you find that!?!"

so

we've been busting it here....and its been hot. like real hot. and we've had some gross chores. we had to take Inky the hen up from her ruined nest.....and then we had to take Cindy the goose up from her failed nest. so its been nasty and there has been a lot of digging holes and burying stuff. and i'll be surprised if that garbage guy actually takes that one big can.... peeeeeweeeeeeeuuuuuuu!

so thats whats been going on. took me a while to get thru the blueberries and i'm about to have a piece of that cheesecake pie -with blueberries of course.

the only bummer was that my blueberry jam didnt gel????? its the only one batch that hasnt worked - any ideas???

:-)

I had some blackberry freezer jam that didn't jell and it made a lovely syrup to pour over pound cake and icecream. Bet that blueberry jam would work just as well. Drizzle some over that cheesecake and see if it doesn't add some pizzazz. And pass me a piece...:drool

How long has it been? Sometimes if you give it a week or so it will eventually jell. If not you could always open it up and give it some more cooking time.

Blueberry syrup is also quite nice however. How about drizzled on that cheesecake? :drool

Last time I made something that didn't gel (honey mead jelly if I recall correctly), I reheated it and added another container of no sugar needed pectin, rejarred, and it finally set.

Works like a charm.

*makes low carb blueberry scones*

mmmmm....

This is going to be such an expensive week for me, I think I'll have to skip buying food this week. Don't worry, there is sorta food in the house. Carrots and chicken. Oh! And cheese. And eggs, and milk.

But I was soooo wanting to buy a bunch of berries at the farmer's market... well, I can two weeks from now :D Next pay check. This payday is fully spoken for!!!

*picturing herself getting to farmer's market and ignoring this good sense*
