Restoring/rescuing a 100+ year old shed. Am I nuts?

I do too but it's not inside a shed lol. Sumi do you know much about the history of the property? It's interesting watching what you dig up!

All I know so far is that my landlord and his family stayed here years ago. Some time over the last few years this house got turned into a salon, which closed, or moved, and they reverted it back into a house. I moved in then. The house is very old though. I'm hoping they may know something about the history from before they moved in.

Some of the junk from the shed is "modern", I found some electrical appliances and light bulbs. Judging by the tree and condition of the stuff inside, keeping in mind the weather, I think the shed has been left to it's own devices a few years ago.

I got the mess of fence wire out!!!! It took me about 2 hours to cut, dig, cut tree roots holding it, dig out some more, carry a few buckets of soil and compost to the compost heap to get it out of my way, yank and yank and yank and finally…. IT'S OUT! It's an amazing feeling I took a pic before but it didn't come out well, you can see some of it here as well (behind the tree):

Wow! Great job, Sumi!
We just did that this spring on our back property line. There were many many glass bottles (wild turkey mostly), broken plastic planters, rusted barbed wire, fence line, one clothesline pole, cement, old hose, all kinds of junk... And it was all tangled up in vines and brush and old fencing. It feels sooo good to clean stuff like that up! I'm really enjoying this thread!

It was you! I thought of your clean up this morning, remembered someone here did a big clean up on their property too. It's an awful job, but it feels so good when it's done. Although in my case, every bit that gets done!

Thanks FEM. I will admit I was in "quit" territory for a bit this morning. Struggling with the fence on the stump side. It was folded and held down twice by tree roots, with no easy way of getting to the root, so I had no choice but dig around it by hand and then cut and cut... And when I went for a root with the shovel, the shovel jumped back and hit me hard on the jaw. But with that root cut the fence came loose that side and I got it out and the hit just made me mad enough to get even more determined lol

Isn't it gorgeous? There is broken glass mixed in, but I can get some mesh and sift it out easy enough. And the soil in the back here is so amazing already.

Thanks, baymule. It being a shed, I guess it was a good dumping ground for "stuff". Some of the stuff I think was in good condition, but with no roof and time it got smashed and rusted and destroyed. I found quite a few pots and pans that I may recycle into planters, or something...
