Can I shoot my hubby? He wasn't feeling well when he came home from work, and just wanted a sandwich from the local convenience store. The kind? A hot turkey sub w/gravy, cheese, stuffing and cranberry sauce. Plus, he wanted me to buy him a half pound of turkey breast. :he

Deb, my husband's a better cook than I am. If I put something on the table he doesn't want, he just gets up and cooks his own. Do I mind? No - except for the cleaning up the kitchen part.

This thread is making me sooo hungry for turkey :drool
I just glanced out the window and there is a flock of wild turkeys in our hay field, only increasing my hunger. I'll have to start checking-out the store ads.

King Soopers (aka City Market in other areas) has NO mention of turkeys in this weeks ad. Safeway has their sale prices listed.

http://weeklyspecials.safeway.com/customer_Frame.jsp?drpStoreID=1975

As low as...
42 cents/lb for the small
38 cents/lb for the medium
29 for large and
33 cents/lb for the really big suckers.

Yes, the turkey's up to 24 lbs are MORE expensive than the 20lb turkeys.

HA HA HA grocery store dweebs!! I have learned the magic power of calculating per unit costs. I have foiled your evil plot! You will not stealz ma muniz!!! Bwaa haa haa!!

How does he notice you used leftovers???

Most guys I know wouldn't realize if I didn't tell them LOL.
Simple, if we don't have turkey for a month, then I cook up something w/turkey in it, he knows! Especially since he now does the majority of the food shopping. :/
Most guys still wouldn't notice. Drat his amazing powers of observation!!!!

One more note about unit prices...

I have noticed at Walmart the cheapest item is often the medium sized bag. From beans to frozen veggies, the larger bags ARE MORE than the medium-sized bags.

Always check that little unit price number before you buy. Here is a great article explaining per unit cost and it even shows a picture of the tags showing about where it is....

:hit We don't have a Safeway around here! I am hoping some of those prices come to my area though!

I checked out the add and I see that the bigger more expensive on is a different brand. Also it was limit 1 with a $10 purchase. I am hoping for one of those 1 per person or no limit .40 a pound or cheaper sales.
ETA: I would at least get my one limit though!
