Ok. Not great but I think the tiny batches are harder to get to develop flavor well. A friend was clearing their garden and gifted me with 2 large heads.... So, it may be another try in a larger jar. Like a gal jug. Need to use the cabbage.

My chickens liked what I shared with them :clap 😁

I've started fermenting earlier this month. Have kraut going, apple cider vinegar, did salsa and garlic basil tomatoes. The salsa and tomatoes are so good! Waiting impatiently for the kraut and acv to be done

I'm sure your birds loved that treat! 🥰
Yep not even a speck left 👍

So when making Stacey's ACV recipe, she tells you to stir it every day for two weeks. Well stirring means taste test to me. I found day 10, is a delighful sweet apple cider. So I decided to ferment up a batch of sweet apple cider for Thanksgiving dinner. I used ripe organic red delicious apples.

I'll see what becomes of it. I'll never know unless I try, besides I enjoy fermenting.

35 lbs purple cabbage sauerkraut attempt. IDK... I've never tried making purple cabbage kraut before. I treated it no different than green cabbage kraut.

Same 35 lb shredded weight process in a food grade 5 gallon bucket with gamma lid that I've been using for a long while now. we'll see how the ferment goes. Organic cabbages from AS, sweet tasting and didn't need to make brine they had sufficient water content.

And canned.

Turned out very good, a little more earthy flavored 😋 We have 20 quarts plus 3 pints left. But she isn't done giving away yet.

We also started fermenting 35lbs shredded weight, AS organic green cabbage for sauerkraut a few days ago.

I use Offgrid With Doug and Stacy's recipe. I've never done it before this year so I'm hoping it will turn out. I put apples and scraps into a half gallon jar until it was half full. Then fill with filtered water(measure the water as you fill the jar) add one tablespoon cane sugar for each cup of water used. Stir it well and cover with an old cloth and rubberband. Stir it once a day, trying to keep it from sunlight. After two to four weeks(depends on your taste) strain out the apples by pouring the whole thing over a strainer on top of another jar. Cover that jar with the cloth and rubberband and leave for a few months(again depends on your taste) no need to stir once the apples are out. You get rid of the apples once you strain them, give to your chickens or whatever. It should turn into vinegar after a few months

Trying to make apple cider vinegar again. This time with Stacey's recipe there. it's peels and cores from crockpot apple butter.

ACV attempt, coffee filter & rubber band for a breathable lid. Hopefully we did it correct, organic Apples & cane sugar, used bottled spring water.

Apple butter starting in the crock pot. I'll probably be dreaming of apple pie all night. The whole house smells so good already 😋
