We live in a 1500ish square foot home right now, and its lay out is terrible. I have no great place to put my canning stuff. Usually my pressure canner is on the stove, as none of the cabniets holds it. I don't want to tote it all the way down in the basement, as it weighs like a million pounds...
I got an iPad 2 from my dad and a new food saver, down comforter and garbage can lol. I got a kohls gift card but we plan on moving next year ( well technically this year!) so I'm going to save it for when we move.
We harvested our first ducks over the weekend!! (I like using the word harvest, rather than process! ;) Process sounds so...mechanic.) It was our first time doing any poultry, but the easiest part was the killing. I whinned like a big baby about plucking, muttering how we should invest in duck...
We are probably going to get a new tractor, if not a few year old one if we can find a deal with some attachments. We may just rent the backhoe, as we would only need it for initial building of structures (chicken coop, shed, deck...etc)
Thank you for your very long post ICU  I like your...
Well, at the age we are in our lives, I would say we are ahead of where most people want to me. Me and DH have jobs (careers, rather than just jobs), we own our own home...a nice sized one in a village with about of acre of land, we have two wonderful boys, we both have cars...I mean we are...
but, I'm not a farmer! (yet.)
So, that about explains it. You are pretty much explaining evolution to an infant. Use dummy talk, please. Here is what I need it to do:
May grow hay. So let it do hay things? Cut? Bale?....does a tractor even bale? I DON'T KNOW!!
Move stuff. So I need a bucket of...

We have always had health insurance, except the few times we were too low income to be able to get it. It seems everytime I don't have insurance is when I need it the most. We were on state health care, but now we got jobs so we are going to get health care through my work. We will have full...
Hey all!
It seems I fell off the face of the planet into the abyss called "Going back to work" lol. My goal of getting the garden planted before going back, was sort of met. Meaning I got half of it done. Threw those plants into the ground and, here I sit.
Nurseries around us have NO plants...
Most people are harmless. It's not a bad idea of course to know how to protect yourself, but he's probably a guy that just didn't know you were married and wants to try and get to know you. I think he just needs a clue :) DH would be good at that.
Ya gotta think, we'd all be single if our DHs...
Picked up some plants...all the nurserys stock SUCKS. I had to go to 3 nurseries to get the following:
2 Roma toms
2 amish paste toms
2 Cherokee Purple toms
1 German Giant
1 Caspian Pink
2 Black Krims
3 Jalepenos
2 Cayenne Peppers
1 Fairy tale eggplant
2 Straight 8 cukes
2 Kentucky wonder pole...
So, I know this sounds silly but I harvested a small side salad from the garden yesterday:
2oz Arugula
1oz Baby Spinach
So, to date 6/6/11:
1lb Asst. Radishes
2oz Arugula
1oz Baby Spinach
I am really going to try and keep track this year!! In other news, my arugula wants to go to seed, so I...
To date, I have harvested:
1lb assorted radishes (= 3 bunches)
That's it lol.
I am going to have to buy plants this year :( I am sooo bummed. My bean plants should be okay, and maybe my cuke plants I can save...everything else is done for. I am gonna need peppers, toms and eggplants :( Oh...
I'm sorry Jamie :( :hugs That really sucks. My mater seedlings look like garbage too. I wasted $$ in seed and lights and...ugh! And I may still have to buy stupid starts to get toms this year. So disappointing.
Potty Training my Son!!! :weee :th
Bought an ounce of mesculin mix, which will give us that expensive "spring salad mix" at the grocery store for 2 years, for $6! It's $5 a BAG here, and I am going to get endless bags this season. Then, I am going to save seeds, so this $6 of mix will last...
Don't feel bad. My husband stayed home with my son while I went to school pregnant with my second and landed a job. I was bringing home the bacon and when I came home to a clean house, laundry done and dinner cooked I felt bad too. Then I said, why should I? He gets to play with our son all day...
Update! :)
5/26- Sprinkled some mesculin mix into the weed garden by the strawberries. I figure since they will only be there for 30 days, why not?
And some pictures ;)
Radish Patch! Easter Eggs and French Breakfast up, watermelons prolly still growing.
French Breakfast! Almost ready...
Fluids are your best bet. Cells make up a rather small amount of the total percentage of "blood" component, and fluids are the best way to make yourself not only feel better but also help your body bounce back a bit. Water is plenty fine, juice will have the added boost of giving your glucose a...
