It's been a long three or four weeks. But the stitches are out and I'm able to have some brief computer time. I had carpal tunnel for probably 20 years or more, but it took the trigger finger not settling down to make me see the surgeon. I'd had steroid shots in that same finger twice, so it was...
Even though most of us have eaten it or still have it on the menu, I found this image on a Canadian site so plopped it here for a new thread.
"Because meat was scarce, a product was invented that was found on almost every table during the war and beyond. Short for “Seasoned Ham,” Spam was a...
Has anyone tried this?
I can't garden outside anymore, but I'm really tempted to try this instead of container gardening. My neighbor had a porch garden last year, lots of really big pots with really nice plants and very little yield.
Here's a link w/ pictures about it...
I never had any luck with these, but I always tried to transplant some into my garden. Now I can't even find them on my property. I know critters like to eat them.

This could go right along with the Food is Free project. That's where you put out excess garden produce, fruit and eggs for anyone to take if they need it.
I do realize that most of us will can...

This rhubarb or cranberry pudding cake is easy to make using fresh or frozen fruit. A simple hot water trick allows the cake to make it's own sauce while baking.
Use 2 cups chopped rhubarb or cranberries. If using frozen, let it thaw in the pan for a bit. Put into a 8x8 or 9x9 baking dish...
Years ago, I made a similar recipe using orange koolaid. I could have eaten the entire batch by myself.

Last month, I gave a jar of lard to a gal at our Azure drop. Today at the drop, her husband told me that his wife had left a jar of Marigold jelly for me, but he had forgotten to grab it as he went out the door, so he'd bring it next time. I gave him another, bigger jar of lard today. I bet he...

We have a neighbor that buys huge jars of jam/whatever, divides it into smaller jars, then steam cans them. Other things she'll open the jar, spoon out what she needs, then steam can the original jar again.
She has a regular pressure canner, but she said this was a...
