Any nutritional value in dried corn (maze) leaves de-kerneled cobs for cattle? Wind blew some corn stock.leaves into the pasture. Cattle were almost waiting for them to blow in so they could eat them. That's why I'm asking. Thanks Jesus is Lord and Christ ๐Ÿ™โค๏ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

    Hay sheep and goats

How much of a netted large round hay (5x6 approx 1700 lbs) does a mature goat or sheep consume per day or week or month? Trying to estimate head count, I figure on average the pasture would be frozen for a maximum 6 weeks. Thanks Jesus is Lord and Christ ๐Ÿ™โค๏ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

What did you do in the berry patch today?

For those of us who would like or have a berry patch. Big or small does matter even it's massive or just a single pot. This is the start of our Ozark Beauty strawberry patch. I started dormant plants in a dollar general kiddie pool screwed down to a pallet, late this winter/early spring. The...

    Pasture Health

I would like your honest assessment of the health of my pasture for cattle. I haven't touched this pasture with a blade all year. It's the end of July, I see some tall broadleaf and even a blessed thistle that causes me to think of bush hogging.. But then I see nice grasses and think maybe I...

For those of us who have or would like an orchard, big or small doesn't matter. Today I planted Starkbros Standard Supreme XL bare root Sunrise and Moonglow pear trees. Canadian Chickens

Three pair of Canadian Chickens snuck in and are nesting on the banks of the pond. So far, it's all good... The geese and wife's ducks are getting a long. I suspect once those chicken eggs hatch though, it'll be a different story. My grand daughters think it's the coolest thing to have wild...

    Brooding buddies

Duck started Monday, Turkeys today. They most likely are sitting on each other's eggs. They were mixed in there before brooding began. I've had turkeys hatch chicken eggs before so why not duck hatch turkey and turkey hatch duck eggs. Jesus is Lord and Christ ๐Ÿ™โค๏ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

    Bresse chicken

although CCX makes a fine meat chicken it has several draw backs for us. 1) they don't naturally bred, so there is a human dependentcy on chick availability and chicks are subject to pricing. This year they ain't available at the farm stores around us and when I asked about ordering they ain't...

Barb Wire - any words of wisdom?

Soon I'll be stretching barb wire for a 5 acre pasture. I've taken out and repaired barbwire fencing but I've never installed any new. Thinking about it and that some common sense should help. I don't have a spooler for the tractor but I have a drawbar that I could slide a roil on to roll it out...

    Muck Brand Chore Boots

I've never owned a official pair of muck brand boots before, that I can remember. But I've heard a lot of good things about them. I have grown tired of rubber boots that crack and leak and are basically not worth purchasing. So being my wife's husband, when I saw these on clearance for $90.00...
