Bubblingbrooks Journey - Salut!

Wow! 3 hr nap! Are you trying to make me jealous, BB? The most I could ever get out of my guy regularly was 2.5 hrs and those days are well over. :P If he did take a 3 hr nap (I think he took 2 that long ever) I would worry that something was wrong with him.

Have fun out there! I hope the weather is nice and you get everything done!

:idunno its just her thing to do

Dripping! Its 52 degrees, but because of the sun intensity we have it feels more like 75.
I got the tent all moved and staked. Hen and chicks? Not so much :/

Is it still dipping below freezing at night for you guys? Last night we were 33 F, so I imagine you are still getting freezes (hence the garden tent and the cool temps despite the strength of the sun).

Oddly enough, its rare for her to be grumpy or cry. She no longer even really fusses about a filled diaper, cause she has figured out that I will change it quickly, regardless of her attitude.

It must be all the saturated fats, cholesterol and cod liver oil she gets every day
Call the Weston Price foundation and see if they need an adorable poster child :D

As a quick aside, and since your lovely daughter is of native ancestry, have you ever watched the documentary "My Big Fat Diet"? It's a documentary about a doctor, Jay Wortman, who put an entire native village on an ancestral diet with modern substitutions.

Yes, its still freezing at night.
The tent was actually for a broody and her clutch to start out in, and work the soil for me.
And they did an awesome job :thumbsup
We do not till. I just use a garden fork to loosen things up a bit.

I think I have about 75 onion starts in now.
I also planted a bunch of barley. Never intended to, but the hen had spilled so much barley in her feeding corner. Most of it was sprouting, so I scooped it all up, added a bunch more and spread it out over the the area the meat birds had their coop last year.
Added old hay and water, and now I will have extra greens for the animals this summer!

:barnie :barnie :he :he

So, I got the canopy moved, the hen and her babies back in there. Then I transplanted onions.
Planted the barley and then a row of taters.
All of this interspersed with bottles and diapers of course.

We have had an issue with several hens jail breaking constantly.
I thought for sure we had solved the issue.

Nope. Onions have been hit.
Not too bad, but I am ticked off.

ARgghh. Hope your onions aren't too bad to salvage! Keeping animals out of the garden area is an ongoing process- domestic or wild animals!

You are so lucky about nice long naps! My daughter didn't sleep at all the first 2 years, I swear. No naps and not through the night. It was exhausting.

Stupid question BB, how do you make the chickens sleep right now? I know my girls throw a fit if they go in before its pitch black. Do they naturally lay two eggs? I'm intriqued w/ you guyses long days :p
