If the man earned awards I would say good for him. However, the nominations for the award were ended just twelve days after he took office. All of his "accomplishments" that have been touted as the reason that he won, occurred well after that 12 day period. How can anyone not draw the conclusion that the award was purely political? Personally, I hope he actually does accomplish things that would warrant such an award. I don't hold out much hope, but none the less, I do still hope.

I myself am alittle puzzled about the whole Nobel Peace prize thing. 12 days in office and POOF!! I do like the president and think he is a man just like the rest of us and entitled to flops (bail out money for large corps and banks that spent it on crap or bought smaller banks), but winning on the assumption that you may accomplish somethng based on hope is wearing it alittle thin. But then again, Al Gore has been TRYING for years with his enviornmental movement. He did make a movie and is very active in trying to defend mother earth so that qualifies as doing. I am puzzled just the same here....

War, never a good thing I think. Maybe a prize for ending a war. I support that idea!! Where exactly are the WMD's?? Did we ever find those. Lord knows, we turned up every stone in Iraq but I think we are still empty handed. Shouldn't someone be held accountable for that kind of a mistake?? Thousands of US soldiers have lost their lives and no one gives any explaination?!?! And maybe it is just me but I also lost track of exactly what we are fighting for again. Freedom, for who?? The women?? If that really was the case we would go to Saudi Arabia where the women aren't even allowed to drive. They just were allowed to have an id card of their own. Politics and shady deals I tell you. Think about this....we have sattelites that can spot water on Jupiter but we can't pick up the only dialysis machine in all of Afghanistan (Bin Laden was reported to be on Dialysis)? Shady I tell you. I appreciate our troops for doing a job in which they promise to defend our freedom but I feel to support my troops is to bring them home. Feed the hungry children, keep the heat on for the elderly....at one point, wasn't it costing us a billion dollars a day to be over there?? Think about all of the poor countries we could help to rebuild with that. All the hungry children across the world we could feed, school and immunize, including the children that need help here. I guess I have just lost sight on what all the war is all about. Call me a hippie, a crazy independant, whatever. Just don't call on me to be happy about war in any way because I am not.

....and I know I am gonna catch heck for this one. It's okay. My grammie always said opinions are like bungholes, everybody's got one.

I agree. War is tiring, useless to the level these conflicts are dragged out, terrible loss of life, "over what"----I have those feelings also.
It just never leaves. It never ends. We chase and fight one issue, throw in another, never fix that one issue, and then find another cause. I know...Arrgh......

Can we ever find a perfect world? probably never but we sure could make it better for everyone. will we do that, probably not.

The Nobel committee is comprised solely of socialists. They chose a man who is methodically dismantling capitalism as the winner of an award which was established to acknowledge accomplishment. This is not rocket science.

I voted for Obama and am a big supporter. That being said I do NOT think he deserved this award in the least. Nothing he has done even comes close to work done by past winners like Nelson Mandela, The Dalia Lama, Mother Theresa, etc. Frankly I was stunned and disappointed he accepted the award.

Every single thing in this world created with the best of intentions....at some point in the future will be compromised. Not to the better of course.

I see no diff. with the Nobel Prize.

Everything gets commercialized, money-ized, political-ized. We allow it.
