One of my boys wants to move from compound to a traditional recurve. He would also like to learn how to make one....wants to go old school! I flatter myself in thinking he has just a touch of "SS" welling up inside. :D

You know, I suggested that to my husband to just make one, and he didn't seem the least bit impressed. :/

I think they are a little difficult to make, with all the laminated pieces and such. My dad still has his original recurve from back in the 60s!

Well the duck hunting this morning wasn't great. A flock of 6 busted us right while we got out some snacks. Also, in the morning we came upon a flock of 2,000 geese on the pond. We could barely see their wings flapping through the fog. They all took off at once and it sounded like a train going off. It was amazing.
But luckily we are going grouse and woodcock hunting tomorrow. :)

ticks, do you have a retriever or do you just go get them yourself?
We do have a lab, but since I was hunting alone and not with an adukt I did not want to risk losing her in the water or in the woods.

I have a lab mix that will retrieve anything she thinks is a toy for her!

She was supposedly a heeler, yea right.

Squirrel is in here. Hubby hasn't got off his duff yet to shoot any....his excuse is I said I don't like squirrel...lol I hate to confess, I did say that, truth is, I have never tried squirrel :/

Yea, she is young last year was her first year retrieving. (she's a natural hate to toot my own horn but...) She is just one big 'ole face lickin' tick infested (we tried to get all of them), Chocolate eatin' hog. Pics are on the working dog thread.
