I wonder if this could really come about....now that we cannot access TV "waves" without a little black box(that the government helped people purchase). Maybe this is one step towards being able to limit our access to certain programming in the years to come. :idunno
Ever read 1984?

I think the TV and radio thing all comes down to money. And so I think there's not liable to be a problem any time soon. As long as advertisers will pay for ads to run during Christian programming, it'll be just fine. And, since that programming gets lots of viewers, it's easy to sell to advertisers. Especially ones who are happy about targeting the "family values" demographic, an ever-popular one.
Gahhh I spent like 30 mins trying to think of a good way to say that but it kept being sooo long that I thought people would just skip over it. Thats why I made a quick like two line post. So anyways, good job Scotty G! I think we are thinking somewhat along the same lines there. I'm just concerned about moving into socialism and the government having a stricter control in the near future because of the bank bail outs.

OMgoshhhhh, I love that book, and sorta hate it. But it refers a lot to communism doesnt it? And most people have given up on Communism the way Marx created it. Then again Marx didnt agree with the way communism progressed. It was supposed to go through the socialist stage first and some countries skipped that.

Fahrenheit 451 is another great book about ultimate censorship. Scary thing is now we've got those flatscreen TV's they had in the movie - anyone see it? That was one movie interpretation of a book that was an excellent job.

I did not want one of those boxes. To be honest, couldn't care if we don't have TV, but DH insisted on getting one.

Everyone does realize you don't need those boxes unless you use an antenna, right? If you use cable or satellite no need to buy the black box.

ya'll know there is a rebate of like $40 off this box right? I seen commercials on tv stating that. I have satellite so never really checked into it, but I saw the rebate (or whatever it is)

You need to use that rebate within 90 days of issue, so don't think you can get the coupon and wait until February 09 to use it!

We do not have a seperation of church & state in this country!
Thomas Jefferson said:
Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man & his god, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, thus building a wall of separation between church and state.
Tell this author of the declaration of independence that.

Ben Franklin said:
My parents had given me betimes religions impressions, and I received from my infancy a pious education in the principles of Calvinism. But scarcely was I arrived at fifteen years of age, when, after having doubted in turn of different tenets, according as I found them combated in the different books that I read, I began to doubt of Revelation itself.

. . . Some books against Deism fell into my hands. . . It happened that they wrought an effect on my quite contrary to what was intended by them; for the arguments of the Deists, which were quoted to be refuted, appeared to me much stronger than the refutations; in short, I soon became a thorough Deist.
Those who say this country was founded on religion should do a search on Treaty of Tripoli and check out article 11. I could keep adding to this but I don't have time to post many books of quotes and such from the founding fathers many of which were deist not Christian that shows this country was not founded on religion.
The seperation part is not in the constitution at all. That was written after so it does not make a seperation of church & state in our constitution.
As to the Deist part yes a lot of them were but a Deist does believe in a "higher entity" or God. Believe me I have read all about this & understand it. If the founding fathers did not believe in God then why did they refrence him all these important documents. And why is so much scripture engraved on every gov't building in Washington DC?
Just food for thought.
