What did you do in your garden today?

With pain and all and very little sleep last night, went out and did a little bit of damage. Felt sorry for the compost tomato plant, so it is on a pot inside,lol


Then worked on the chickens run and coop. Set the extension cords and ready to plug the heated water bowls.

Installed the heater and ready to be turned on when needed.

Need to get another plate for the roost because the other plate was not working. Tomorrow will try to get it to set it like on the opposite side.

Then put the dog crate inside the coop in case it is needed.

Oh, and also covered the coop fan from the outside,

Began putting sand on the floor,

And gave them a pumpkin for them to decor for Halloween since I do not celebrate it,lol

Picked okra... Weeks ago I let the goats in there to clean up...thought they'd done a thorough job - but I guess the okra thought differently. It rallied and came back with a vengeance. Had no choice but to pick it, lol.

Pureed the ripe Amish Paste and 1/2 the ripe Roma tomatoes, I picked Saturday. Farm babe got them cooking on down in a 4 gallon pot. She seems to like to can tomato puree and diced tomatoes. I guess it's a good start to many tomato recipes. I like the smell of cooking tomatoes.

Well, the garlic and onions are underground,lol put eggshells and tilled and the covered with newspapers, dirt and straw. Getting there before winter. Should see a bit of snow this Friday.

I tried to ignore the stuff - but I generally walk through the area a couple times a day. It just kept hollerin' at me, lol. Pick me, pick me! It finally wore me down.

I used some of the dehydrated okra in the gumbo - can't tell it from fresh!

we don't ever do puree concentrate here, but tomato chunks (not diced) and tomato juice are easy enough. i love the smell too and even after canning tomatoes all day i can still sit there and eat bits of them as i'm chunking or stirring while heating up. yes, i'm careful about using a clean spoon each time.

Watered the eggplant, started some cabbage and ordered onion plants.
