LovinLife- Happy New Year's all!

Went grocery shopping today. Erg hate paying for carrots and since when in celery $3.50!! Didn't get any coffee because it was too expensive. Decided to quit and save some money.....we'll see how that goes. :th

Last night I asked my DH to get the sewing machine down from the attic. He grimaced because the thing weighs 50 lbs! But he went and got it down for me. (such a good man) :love My machine is a 1980's Brother and was my mother's machine. My dad gave it to me because he couldn't "figure it out" and I've been trying to "figure it out" for years now. I will fiddle with it for a while then tell DH to put it in the attic....then get it out a few months later....fiddle somemore....etc,etc. It's such a primative machine that it should be simple for me but I'm at a loss. :he When i was trying to thread and use it last night some part on the top of it popped off and went flying through the air! Good thing there wasn't any kids or animals near by, it would've easily taken an eye out. While I was playing "pop goes the sewing machine" DH found the User Manual on the computer! This really is a small feat consider the sewing machine is older than computers. Someone must have been kind enough to scan it! So I will be getting around to reading it becasue I really, really want to know how to sew and this time I'm going to figure this machine out and do it!!

How cool he found that!

Isn't the internet a grand thing sometimes?

My machine is even older than that. I don't know where the manual is.
Wonder if I checked if I could find it on-line. (Mine belonged to my GM, and is older than I am. It's an old Singer.)

My hubby always finds old manual for things on E-bay. You might look there.

Had to get out of the house today. We went to "the city" 1.5 hrs to get to the fabric store, office store, and see dad for lunch. I went to the fabric store and walked around for 1/2 an hour then I finally asked the lady if she knew where I could find a "bobble winder". Well after she stopped laughing she told me it was a bobbin winder and pointed. Boy do I have a long way to go before I'm sewing sundresses!

This is our second winter in our new home. Last winter our power bills were through the roof!! We decided to get a wood stove but couldn't get one in the summertime and we've been looking this winter. They have started to go on sale at the stores and some people have posted on Craigslist and the trading post but haven't found one yet. Today I got our power bill for December usage and it's $380!!!!!!!!!! :ep This is the most we've been charged for power EVER! My power company's a co-op and I take my own readings every month so maybe I just read it wrong.....(hummm gotta check that tomorrow :fl ). The sad thing is that if our power bill is this high for Dec I don't want to see Jan. :sick

So #1 goal for summer: Get woodstove and chimney installed, ASAP!
