Just put 7 qt ham& beans in canner. It's coolish, rainy, inside day. Making use of ham & clearing frig.

By the way....1# grt northerns $1.87 WM brand. But the 2# grt northerns, with a flavor pouch I'll toss, were 2.82, so 1.41 per#. Yep.

First time for this method but, like results so far. About 3/4 cup ham chunks on bottom. 1.25 c dry beans, hot water to fill line. 90 min @10#. Beans kept meat in place. All sealed.

Looks great! I need to get back to some canning. I never thought it would happen, but I need some quart jars. Or - we need to eat some of the previously canned stuff and clear out some jars for re-use.

I went to a thrift store that I don’t go to very often because they have odd hours and seem to always be closed when I drive by. (They run a food pantry and I guess they aren’t open during the scheduled food pickup times.

Anyway, I got 22 jars for 50 cents each! Regular and wide mouth pints and quarts. The lady said they had just got them in this morning. So I was lucky on two counts.
